After Kate Bosworth<\/a> was seen wearing a diamond ring<\/a> on her engagement finger while attending the 2023 Vanity Fair<\/em> Oscar party with Justin Long last month, the internet went wild, hoping it meant the couple, who began dating in 2021, were set to tie the knot<\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n Now, Bosworth and Long<\/a> have confirmed their engagement in their own words, opening up about how Long came to pop the question to the <\/span>Blue Crush<\/span><\/i> star o<\/span>n Tuesday’s episode of Long’s <\/span>Life is Short<\/span><\/a><\/em> podcast, for which he had his actress fianc\u00e9 on as a guest.<\/span><\/p>\n According to Long, he originally “had a special thing planned around” Bosworth’s 40th birthday in January. But, as he explained, “Things change, and sometimes they change pretty drastically without any warnings.”<\/span><\/p>\n Bosworth went on to explain that the couple “had just gone through this really hard thing\u201d and \u201chad spoken to a therapist” to help them process.\u00a0<\/span>“We were trying to move through things at the time and she gave us a really great piece of advice which was, ‘Make sure that you’re pretty consistently asking the other what you need, or asking the other what they need,’ ” she said.<\/span><\/p>\n “I remember waking up not so many mornings after that therapy session and I looked at Justin … I smiled at you, and I said, ‘What do you need?’ ” Bosworth continued. “And he really looked at me and he said, ‘To spend my life with you.'”<\/span><\/p>\n “And I smiled and I said, ‘Well, yeah, you have that. Oh my gosh, you have that,’ and he said, ‘No, I mean I really want to spend my life with you,'” she recalled.<\/span><\/p>\n “It was the easiest \u2026 the words just came out, like, so naturally,” Long added, saying the moment\u00a0“felt so organic” and “connected to something very, very deeply, profoundly personal that we were going through \u2014 like, a real-life change \u2014 and so it came out in a very organic way.”<\/span><\/p>\n “I thought it was the most romantic and honest and loving proposal,” Bosworth confirmed.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Following the episode’s release, Bosworth uploaded a series of Instagram photos to announce the news on the platform, writing, “These things are funny to announce. How to do this right? He\u2019s going the distance? I\u2019ve got a Blue Crush? He\u2019s just THAT into me? I\u2019ve won a date with\u2026??? Ok you get it!
