Sofia Richie<\/a> revealed that she converted to Judaism ahead of her wedding to her fianc\u00e9, founder of independent record label 10K Projects, Elliot Grainge<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The daughter of Lionel Richie and Diane Alexander shared the news on her Instagram Stories<\/a> on Monday with a photo of herself signing a document written in Hebrew.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat a magical day,\u201d she wrote. \u201cI want to thank cantor Nathan Lam for helping me along this journey of converting to Judaism. It has been one of the greatest experiences of my life. Today was that day!!!\u201d<\/p>\n

Richie added the Star of David emojis at the end of her message.<\/p>\n

Richie got engaged to the music executive in April 2022<\/a> when he popped the question with a hefty emerald-cut diamond. When Grainge got down on one knee, they were surrounded by scattered flower petals and candles in a tropical setting. The model captioned her social media post, \u201cForever isn\u2019t long enough.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Grainge is Jewish, Richie<\/a> has previously opened up about being raised Christian and attending Oaks Christian school in Los Angeles. She told Complex<\/em><\/a> in 2016, \u201cI went there for two years, and that\u2019s where I got my sense. My family wanted church to be a place we all went together. My dad was always traveling and my mom was always working. School is where I did Bible classes and studied God.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 24-year-old has been romantically linked to the 29-year-old son of Sir Lucian Grainge, the chairman and CEO of Universal Music Group, since going Instagram official in March of 2021<\/a>.<\/p>\n

When Entertainment Tonight<\/em><\/a> reported the news of the couple’s relationship in April 2021, the outlet said that Richie<\/a> and Grainge “have been friends for years and Elliot is also close with Sofia’s brother, Miles,” noting her family’s approval.<\/p>\n
