Michelle Williams<\/a> gave us some chic workwear inspiration when stepping out in N.Y.C. yesterday afternoon.<\/p>\n

Leaving ABC Studios after filming The View<\/em>, the actress was snapped wearing a sleek office-appropriate outfit as she darted from the building to her awaiting car.<\/p>\n

In a blue and white striped button-up shirt and contrasting check blazer, Williams gave us all a lesson in artful clashing. She took a casual approach further down with straight-leg jeans in a classic blue wash that cropped at the ankle.<\/p>\n

On her feet were black leather “Ava” ballet flats<\/a> by The Row<\/a>, confirming all our suspicions that Mary Janes<\/a> may be the shoe of the season. Comfortable, versatile for in-between weather, and easily dressed up or down, the retro shoe style has been making a major comeback as of late. Spotted on the likes of Zo\u00eb Kravitz<\/a>, Kendall Jenner<\/a>, Kaia Gerber<\/a>, Jennifer Lawrence<\/a> and Gigi Hadid<\/a>, it’s clear they’re the reigning shoe of Hollywood and beyond.<\/p>\n

Williams kept her platinum hair in a signature blonde pixie cut<\/a> and left her makeup minimal and rosy.<\/p>\n

Promoting her new film Showing Up<\/em>, where she will play a sculptor trying to balance her creative life with the demands of her personal life, the 42-year-old has received excellent reviews for the film, which debuted at the Cannes Film Festival last May.<\/p>\n

Having had a relatively low-key few years, the Dawson’s Creek<\/em><\/a> alum opened up about how Brokeback Mountain<\/em><\/a>, where she starred with Heath Ledger<\/a> and Jake Gyllenhaal, left her confused about her career.<\/p>\n

“It was really unnerving,” she said during an appearance on Sunday Sitdown with Willie Geist<\/em>. “Like, what do you do? What do you do next?”<\/p>\n

“I never really had attention on me before in that kind of a way, and I think that that attention can be sort of destabilising,\u201d she explained, adding, \u201cbefore that, I didn\u2019t think anybody was really paying attention or really cared that much.”<\/p>\n

“Now it feels like, \u2018Well, people are watching. What if I make a mistake?\u2019 That\u2019s really scary.
