It’s been a big few weeks for Selena Gomez. Not long after putting out a statement asking fans to stop harassing Hailey Bieber<\/a>, the actress and Rare Beauty founder was spotted on a date with none other than Zayn Malik.<\/p>\n

This news sent the internet wild for a myriad of reasons. Firstly, there’s video evidence \u2014 quite a bit of it \u2014 showing that when she was younger Gomez had a crush on the One Direction band member, picking him every time she was asked about who she’d date if given the choice from the band.<\/p>\n

Speaking of One Direction, there’s similar recorded footage of a young Harry Styles saying his celebrity crush is Emily Ratajkowski, the woman he was just photographed pashing on the streets of Tokyo<\/a>. And they say manifesting doesn’t work!<\/p>\n

Secondly, Malik’s connection to Gigi Hadid (who has a connection to Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner and, therefore, Hailey Bieber). Malik, of course, dated Hadid\u00a0off and on for seven years before finally splitting in 2021, and they share a 2-year-old daughter together named Khai. Gomez, for her part, recently did a TikTok saying she wished she was as pretty as Bella Hadid, Gigi’s younger sister.<\/span><\/p>\n

Following the Entertainment Tonight<\/span><\/a><\/em> reports that Gomez and Malik were seen \u201cholding hands\u201d and \u201ckissing\u201d while on a date in New York City on Thursday, March 23, a person close to Hadid has revealed how she feels about the situation: and in true Hadid fashion, she’s keeping it cute and classy.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A source told\u00a0Us Weekl<\/a>y<\/em> that Hadid is completely supportive of the rumored new couple. \u201cGigi has no problem whatsoever with Zayn dating,\u201d the insider stated. \u201cAs long as he is happy and stable and continues to be a good coparent to [their daughter] Khai, she\u2019s fine with whoever he goes out with.\u201d<\/p>\n

The source went on to say that Hadid has \u201cmoved on\u201d from Malik, and is \u201chaving fun\u201d while dating right now herself. She was most recently romantically linked to Leonardo DiCaprio after they were spotted hanging out in September 2022, before being spotted together in February this year.<\/span><\/p>\n

As for Gomez and Malik, a person at the scene told ET,<\/em> \u201cSelena and Zayn went out in SoHo in New York City last night at around 10:30 p.m. They walked in holding hands and were kissing. Most restaurant staff and restaurant goers didn’t notice them. It seemed like they were comfortable together and it was clear that it was a date.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n
