Ben Affleck<\/a> may have looked less-than-thrilled to be at the 2023 Grammy Awards<\/a>, but despite how miserable he appeared in those now-viral memes, he swears he had “a good time.”<\/p>\n

In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter<\/em><\/a>, Affleck credited his less than enthusiastic expression to feeling caught off-guard when host Trevor Noah<\/a> approached Affleck and his wife, Jennifer Lopez<\/a> for a skit.<\/p>\n

\u201cI saw [Noah approach] and I was like, \u2018Oh, God.\u2019 They were framing us in this shot, but I didn\u2019t know they were rolling,\u201d he said. \u2018I leaned into her [Lopez]<\/a> and I was like, \u201cAs soon they start rolling, I\u2019m going to slide away from you and leave you sitting next to Trevor.\u2019 She goes, \u2018You better f***ing not leave.\u2019 That\u2019s a husband-and-wife<\/a> thing.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the skit, Noah pretended to be on the phone with his mother after Sam Smith\u2019s delightfully sinful performance of \u201cUnholy<\/a>.\u201d The former Daily Show<\/i> host joked, \u201cMom, it wasn\u2019t the actual devil. No, they were just dressed as the devil, Mom.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

Seated next to the married couple at the time, Lopez can be seen in the frame seemingly scolding her husband and patting him on the chest while they whispered to each other. The internet blew up with rumors and speculation that the Shotgun Wedding<\/i> actress<\/a> was telling her husband to \u201clook more friendly.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Debunking the assumptions, Affleck told the outlet, \u201c<\/span>I had a good time at the Grammys<\/a>. My wife was going, and I thought, \u2018Well, there\u2019ll be good music. It might be fun.\u2019 At movie award shows, it\u2019s speeches and, like, sound-mixing webinars. But I thought this would be fun.<\/span>\u201d<\/p>\n
