Emily Ratajkowski\u2019<\/a>s former lover, comedian Eric Andre<\/a>, has come clean on what really happened when he posted that<\/em> image<\/a> on Instagram on Feb. 14.<\/p>\n

The pair were hanging out and spotted many times in and around the streets of Manhattan<\/a> and while the relationship has since ended, Andre told Rolling Stone<\/em> it was a definitely a fun time.<\/p>\n

\u201cEmily popped up and took that picture. I was really in the moment: I was drinking wine, and she started dying laughing, and she was like, \u2018I have to take a picture of this,\u2019\u201d 39-year-old Andre told\u00a0Rolling Stone<\/em><\/a>. \u201cShe took the picture, we both started cracking up, and she was like, ‘This is iconic’ \u2014 she kept saying ‘iconic.’ We both agreed this was a beautiful image that we had to share with the world.”<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was one of those things,\u201d the host of the Eric Andre Show<\/em> continued. \u201cI think that\u2019s what art is about. Art is not intellectual; it\u2019s primal. It has to speak to your hormones as much as it speaks to your mind. The beauty of that was the spontaneity. Spontaneity and capturing happy accidents are what art is all about.\u201d<\/p>\n

When probed on why online commentators seemed to be confused by the pairing, Andre reminded the journalist \u2014 and everybody playing at home \u2014 that women like funny men.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m ugly. I looked like Steve Urkel for the first 20 years of my life,\u201d he jokes. \u201cI think that people think attraction is only based on physical appearance, but beauty is only skin-deep. Colin [Jost]<\/a> is married to Scarlett Johansson<\/a>, and [John] Mulaney<\/a> is married to Olivia Munn<\/a>, so you\u2019d think comedy \u2026 works.\u201d<\/p>\n

Three days after Andre posted the picture to Instagram, Ratajkowski \u2014 who has also dated funny man Pete Davidson \u2014 took to TikTok and implied she had ended her situationship<\/a>. Many speculated this was with Andre \u2014 and many thought she might be annoyed he posted the picture.<\/p>\n

But if Andre\u2019s words are to be believed, the former beaus seem to be fine.<\/p>\n

The picture still lives on the Andre\u2019s grid, by the way.<\/p>\n
