Rihanna<\/a> is back with her revolutionary take on maternity-wear<\/a>. After redefining what it meant to show off her bump during her first pregnancy, she’s keeping the surprising looks coming during her second<\/a> with her outfit for the 2023 Oscars awards ceremony<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Before her highly anticipated performance at tonight’s ceremony (Rihanna scored her very first Academy Award nomination<\/a> this year), she walked the red carpet in a sheer bodycon custom Ala\u00efa gown, featuring a leather bandeau halter top and a low-rise draped leather floor-length skirt with a sheer turtleneck underneath. The whole thing put her growing belly on display.<\/p>\n

The Grammy-winner wore her raven tresses up in a messy top-knot bun, and added a bit of bling with diamond, emerald, and ruby gemstone teardrop earrings, and an assortment of dazzling rings. The makeup mogul maintained a glowing and natural complexion with a bold, statement-making red lip courtesy of her makeup brand, Fenty Beauty.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Savage X Fenty<\/a> mogul sang her song, \u201cLift Me Up\u201d \u2014 the lead single of the Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever<\/em>\u00a0<\/a>original soundtrack that has been nominated for Best Original Song. Rihanna was nominated alongside co-writers Tems, Ludwig G\u00f6ransson and director Ryan Coogler for the highly celebrated track.<\/p>\n

Rihanna took the stage in a custom sheer black embellished ensemble from Maison Margiela’s Artisanal line. Her top featured an empire silhouette (which further showed off her baby bump), with a silver beading embroidered throughout, worn with jacquard trousers. The bespoke creation was made specifically for Rihanna by designer John Galliano.<\/p>\n

Drenched in De Beers diamonds, Rihanna layered shimmering necklaces and wore glittering drop earrings and a dazzling assortment of bracelets and rings over her black leather opera gloves. The Anti<\/em> artist wore her hair in a glossy blowout with a sweeping side-part and maintained a luminescent complexion with shimmering eyeshadow.<\/p>\n

Other contenders in the category included Diane Warren\u2019s song \u201cApplause\u201d from Tell It Like a Woman<\/em>, M.M. Keeravaani and Chandrabose\u2019s \u201cNaatu Naatu\u201d from\u00a0RRR<\/em>, Ryan Lott, David Byrne, and Mitski\u2019s \u201cThis Is a Life\u201d from\u00a0Everything, Everywhere All At Once<\/em>, and\u00a0Lady Gaga\u2019s track \u201cHold My Hand\u201d from\u00a0Top Gun: Maverick<\/em><\/a>. Keeravaani and Chandrabose took home the win.<\/p>\n

Rihanna’s song was her first new track in six years<\/a>\u00a0and pays homage to the life of actor\u00a0Chadwick Boseman<\/a>, who portrayed King T\u2019Challa in the first installment of\u00a0Black Panther<\/em>. Boseman passed away in 2020 from colon cancer at the age of 43.<\/p>\n

On Feb. 12, the mega-watt superstar performed during the\u00a0Apple Music Halftime Show<\/a>\u00a0at the 2023\u00a0Super Bowl<\/a> LVII in Glendale, Arizona and took the opportunity to announce her second pregnancy on stage. Rihanna revealed her burgeoning baby bump as she performed her greatest hits. Rihanna and her partner, rapper A$AP Rocky<\/a>\u00a0are parents of\u00a0a 9-month-old baby boy.<\/a><\/p>\n
