Gigi Hadid<\/a> has admitted to being a \u201cnepo baby\u201d in a new interview, during which the model opened up about the immense privilege she was afforded by her parents, while touching on the pressures she felt when she was younger, especially when it came to her body.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Hadid, who, alongside her younger sister, Bella, is one of the world\u2019s top supermodels working today, told <\/span>Times of London<\/span><\/i><\/a>, \u201cTechnically I\u2019m a nepotism baby.\u201d Though Hadid added her \u201cparents came from very little,\u201d that had changed by the time she was born: Hadid is the daughter of immigrants, her mother is Dutch model Yolanda Hadid and her father is Palestinian-born property developer Mohamed Hadid.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve always acknowledged that I come from privilege,\u201d Hadid added, noting that her parents always made her aware of her step up in life and to never treat people differently because of it.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cMy parents told me, \u2018Just because you have parents who were successful, it doesn\u2019t mean that you shouldn\u2019t walk into the job being as nice and as hard-working as you can be,’\u201d she explained.<\/span><\/p>\n

Hadid, who has a nepo baby of her own now<\/a>: a child with musician Zayn Malik, went on to say, \u201cI don\u2019t think I\u2019m the prettiest person in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n

The term “nepo baby” refers to celebrity children who\u2019ve gotten a leg up in the entertainment industry because of their famous parents: Hadid having a supermodel mother and rich father, Dakota Johnson’s mom being actress Melanie Griffith, etc. The phrase went viral when someone tweeted that they\u2019d just discovered Maude Apatow on Euphoria<\/em> was a nepo baby \u2014 born to Judd Apatow and Lesley Mann \u2014 and later, served as the inspiration behind<\/span> New York magazine\u2019s<\/span><\/i> viral \u201cYear of the Nepo Baby\u201d cover story.<\/span><\/p>\n

Elsewhere in Hadid’s interview, she spoke about having a bad relationship with her body growing up, something that has been discussed on social media following people finding old clips of her mom, Yolanda, enforcing strict rules around food: once she told Hadid off for eating a slice of her birthday cake and famously told her, when she called saying she felt faint on set, to “eat an almond.”<\/p>\n

Hadid says she was \u201cvery routined\u201d with her diet when she was starting out in the industry. \u201cI was probably harder on my body than I should have been,\u201d she explained. \u201cI wasn\u2019t starving myself but I was very routined.\u201d<\/p>\n

Thankfully, she’s come out the other side. \u201cSince then I\u2019ve got into this idea of body neutrality. I love my body for what it has done but I\u2019m not obsessed with
