Prince Harry<\/a> and Meghan Markle<\/a> have finally received their royal invitation<\/a> to King Charles III\u2019s coronation<\/a> ceremony on May 6. Whether or not the Sussexes will attend is still unknown.<\/p>\n

Over the weekend, a spokesperson for the couple told The Sunday Times<\/em><\/a>, \u201cI can confirm The Duke has received email correspondence from His Majesty\u2019s office regarding the coronation. An immediate decision on whether The Duke and Duchess will attend will not be disclosed by us at this time.\u201d<\/p>\n

In February, a palace insider reportedly told People<\/em><\/a> that\u00a0the Duke and Duchess of Sussex<\/a>\u00a0will, in fact, be invited to the royal affair. However, a source close to the couple has shared that they had yet to receive an invitation<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Since the release of Prince Harry\u2019s bombshell\u00a0tell-all memoir\u00a0Spare<\/em><\/a>\u00a0in January, tensions within the royal family have hit an all-time high, and there has reportedly been no advancement in mending fences.<\/p>\n

Last week, news broke that King Charles asked the pair to leave their home in the U.K, Frogmore Cottage<\/a>. A spokesperson for the couple\u2019s Archewell Foundation corroborated the news with\u00a0People<\/em><\/a>, stating, \u201cWe can confirm The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been requested to vacate their residence at Frogmore Cottage.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to\u00a0the Sun<\/em><\/a>,\u00a0King Charles<\/a>\u00a0is evicting Prince Harry and Meghan. The outlet claims King Charles plans to downgrade his younger brother Prince Andrew (who was ousted from his Buckingham Palace apartment, and lives in a Windsor mansion) to the much-smaller Frogmore Cottage. Andrew officially stepped back from public royal duties and was stripped of his HRH title after sexual abuse allegations came to light, as well as his ties with disgraced financier and sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein. The royal\u00a0settled a civil sexual assault lawsuit<\/a>\u00a0with Virginia Giuffre in February of 2022.<\/p>\n

Harry currently holds the lease on the cottage. The royal residence was gifted to the couple by\u00a0Queen Elizabeth II<\/a>\u00a0as a wedding present. After renovating the cottage, the pair relocated to Markle\u2019s native California in 2020 when they took a step back as working members of the royal family.<\/p>\n

Despite their Montecito address, the couple continues to retain Frogmore as their U.K. residence,\u00a0reportedly<\/a> signing a 12-month lease renewal last April. Vacating the property will leave Harry and Meghan without an official royal residence, and many are left wondering what this will mean if the couple decides to attend the coronation<\/a>. Many have\u00a0speculated<\/a>\u00a0that King Charles would offer temporary accommodations if that were to be the case.<\/p>\n

According to the People<\/em><\/a>,\u00a0King Charles<\/a>\u00a0is anxious for the situation to \u201ccalm down\u201d before his ascension to the throne. A source close to the royals said, \u201cIt is such a momentous occasion for Charles, and he would want his son to be at the coronation to witness it. He would like to have Harry back in the family. If they don\u2019t sort it out, it will always be part of the King\u2019s reign and how he has left his family disjointed. He has had a reputation as a distant parent, and it would be awful for him for that to continue.\u201d<\/p>\n

During the promotional tour for his book, Prince Harry sat down with ITV News\u2019 Tom Bradby for the feature,\u00a0Harry: The Interview<\/em><\/a>. The Duke explained, \u201cIt never needed to be this way<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI want a family. Not an institution,\u201d said Prince Harry. \u201cThey feel as though it\u2019s better to keep us, somehow, as the villains,\u201d referring to the royal family. He added, \u201cThey\u2019ve shown absolutely no willingness to reconcile.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Duke spoke about his relationship with his father, King Charles III, and his brother, William, the Prince of Wales<\/a>. \u201cI would like to get my father back,\u201d Prince Harry said. \u201cI would like to have my brother back.\u201d<\/p>\n
