Kate Middleton<\/a> sartorially paid tribute to Princess Diana<\/a> over the weekend, when she accompany Prince William<\/a> to the England vs. Wales Six Nations rugby match in Cardiff on Saturday.<\/p>\n

As patron of the English Rugby Football Union, the Princess of Wales<\/a> incorporated the colors of both teams with a white and red houndstooth Catherine Walker coat. Funnily enough, her husband acts as the patron of the Welsh Rugby Union, causing the couple to root for opposing teams. Middleton took over her role as patron after Prince Harry officially stepped back from senior royal duties in January 2020.<\/p>\n

Known for re-wearing her favorite wardrobe staples<\/a>, the royal previously wore the coat in 2018 to visit the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm.<\/p>\n

Featuring a double-breasted, knee-length silhouette, the vibrant coat includes oversized red buttons and a collared neckline. Middleton styled her ensemble with a black turtleneck, black stockings, Aquatalia black boots<\/a>\u00a0and dainty Mappin & Webb white gold and diamond earrings, while she carried a bright white Mulberry<\/a> bag.<\/p>\n

The wardrobe staple draws similarities to Princess Diana<\/a>\u2019s famous Moschino<\/a> skirt suit with the same red-and-white houndstooth print. Lady Di also re-wore her houndstooth ensemble time and time again. Notably, the late Princess of Wales wore the look to Princess Eugenie\u2019s christening in 1990, and on a visit to Toronto, Canada one year later.<\/p>\n

Diana\u2019s cropped Moschino<\/a> blazer was interwoven with white and black ribbon, tying in the color palette of her coordinating black and white houndstooth skirt.<\/p>\n
