If you can believe it, the 2003 rom-com we all know and love, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days<\/em><\/a>, is celebrating its 20th anniversary. (We know, how can this be?!) Luckily, stars\u00a0Kate Hudson<\/a> and Matthew McConaughey are taking the opportunity to reunite and filmed an Instagram Live where they chatted about the legacy of the beloved romantic comedy<\/a> and answered fan\u2019s most-asked questions.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s so amazing,\u201d said Hudson<\/a>. \u201cWe got so lucky to be in such a classic [movie], you know?\u201d<\/p>\n

McConaughey gave his two cents. I’m always asked what it is. I know when I\u2019ve been with people watching it, there\u2019s sort of a mischievous fun they’re having. It\u2019s sort of an interactive experience they\u2019re having,” he says about the audience connecting with Hudson<\/a>\u2019s character Andie or McConaughey\u2019s Ben.<\/p>\n

“We’re probably two very well-casted people for anything mischievous,” The Glass Onion<\/em> star<\/a> chimed in before McConaughey joked, “Yes, we’ve picked each other’s pockets before.” The pair also starred together in 2008 action comedy, Fool’s Gold <\/em>and talked about their innate ability to riff off of one another and playfully fight, causing palpable chemistry, and going “toe-to-toe,” as McConaughey put it.<\/p>\n

Hudson<\/a> said one of the most common questions she’s asked is what it must be like to kiss McConaughey. \u201cMy whole thing is, we\u2019re always in weird environments. There was only time, when we kissed that is was so nice and gentle, in the bathroom [scene],” she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, everything else has not been climate controlled,\u201d McConaughey said with a laugh. \u201cEverything else was like, \u2018Swim up to the top, the sharks almost ate you, you just fell from a plane from 300 feet, tread water, before you catch your breath, kiss.\u2019\u201d Hudson<\/a> added \u201c\u2019And make it look passionate.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOr you\u2019re one the Brooklyn Bridge and you\u2019re yelling across, and the wind is blowing in right your face,\u201d Hudson<\/a> said, referring to the finale scene in How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days<\/em>. McConaughey noted there was the smell of the exhaust from 18-wheelers when they filmed it.<\/p>\n

Among other tidbits included the fact that McConaughey believes Hudson<\/a> came up with the baby-talk “Benny boo boo” on her own. They joked about their back-to-back pose in the film’s poster that was mimicked time and time again (see McConaughey’s other films, Failure to Launch<\/em> and Ghosts of Girlfriends Past<\/em>). They even discussed how iconic that<\/em> yellow dress has become ever since Hudson wore it in the film.<\/p>\n

Directed by Donald Petrie, the 2003 blockbuster follows magazine advice columnist Andie Anderson (Hudson) who comes up with the idea to imitate her friend\u2019s needy behavior when dating, to show that it drives men away with the article, \u201cHow to Lose a Guy in 10 Days.\u201d Seeking the perfect man for the experiment, Andie stumbles upon the cocky ad executive Ben Berry (McConaughey). Overly confident in his skills as a ladies\u2019 man, Ben is under the impression he can make any woman fall in love with him in 10 days. Chaos ensues and plans backfire.<\/p>\n
