No, Robbie\u2019s female-led version will not be a spin-off of the Pirates franchise. This is its own thing \u2013 with the OG one getting a reboot of its own.<\/p>\n<p>Christina Hodson, who wrote the script fo<em>r Birds Of Prey: The Emancipation Of One Harley Quinn<\/em> is on board to write the female-fronted script. According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/heat-vision\/margot-robbie-christina-hodson-team-new-pirates-caribbean-movie-1298722\" target=\"_blank\"><em>The Hollywood Reporter<\/em><\/a>, the publication that broke this news, Hodson is one of Tinseltown\u2019s go-to blockbuster writers, with credits including <em>Transformers, The Flash<\/em> and <em>Batgirl.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Robbie&#8217;s recent features include\u00a0<em>Bombshell<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Once Upon a Time \u2026 in Hollywood<\/em>, and she will next be seen in James Gunn&#8217;s\u00a0<em>The Suicide Squad\u00a0<\/em>sequel.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span class=\"price-style\"><a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/articles\/margot-robbie-death-threats\/\">READ: Margot Robbie Talks Money &#8211; and how expensive death threats can be.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, in 2019 Robbie and Hodson launched the Lucky Exports Pitch Program, a new initiative aimed at getting more female-identifying writers hired by studios to write action-centric movies.<\/p>\n<p>A director and release date have not been announced.<\/p>\n<p>Robbie and Disney will no doubt be looking for her version of Pirates to be as successful as the existing films, which grossed $1.5 billion domestically and $3.07 billion internationally.<\/p>\n<p>More to come.
