Rihanna<\/a> is on a roll this awards season! Hot on the heels of her very first Golden Globes nomination<\/a> for best original song in a motion picture, the superstar singer is celebrating yet another milestone.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced<\/a> this year\u2019s nominees, and the Anti<\/em> artist received a nod for Best Original Song alongside her co-writers Tems, Ludwig G\u00f6ransson and director Ryan Coogler for her highly celebrated track \u201cLift Me Up\u201d featured on the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever <\/em><\/a>original soundtrack.<\/p>\n

The Savage X Fenty<\/a> founder was nominated alongside Diane Warren\u2019s song \u201cApplause\u201d from Tell It Like a Woman<\/em>, M.M. Keeravaani and Chandrabose\u2019s \u201cNaatu Naatu\u201d from RRR<\/em>, Ryan Lott, David Byrne, and Mitski\u2019s \u201cThis Is a Life\u201d from Everything, Everywhere All At Once<\/em>, and Lady Gaga\u2019s track \u201cHold My Hand\u201d from Top Gun: Maverick<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

The song marked the Grammy-winner\u2019s first new track in six years<\/a>, and pays homage to the life of actor Chadwick Boseman<\/a>, who portrayed King T\u2019Challa in the first installment of Black Panther<\/em>. Boseman passed away in 2020 from colon cancer at the age of 43.<\/p>\n

Rihanna isn’t the only first-time nominee this year \u2014 actresses Ana de Armas<\/a>, Jamie Lee Curtis<\/a>, Michelle Yeoh, and Stephanie Hsu received their first Oscar nods, as well as actors Austin Butler<\/a>, Ke Huy Quan, Paul Mescal<\/a>, Brendan Fraser, Colin Farrell and more. This year marks Nigerian musician (and Rihanna’s co-writer) Tems’ first consideration as well.<\/p>\n

Tems took to Instagram<\/a> to celebrate the song’s release in October. “Blessed to have written this song in honor of Chadwick Boseman,” she wrote. “And even more blessed to hear the baddest @badgalriri<\/a> voice it to perfection\ud83d\udd4a\u2728.”<\/p>\n

On Feb. 12, Rihanna is set to return to the stage at the\u00a02023 Super Bowl LVII halftime show<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The 2023 Academy Awards ceremony will take place on March 12 at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood. After Rihanna’s very glamorous appearance at the Golden Globes<\/a> alongside boyfriend A$AP Rocky, we can’t wait to see what the songstress will wear to the 2023 Oscars.
