There’s no forgetting Madonna<\/a>\u2019s iconic performance at the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards. You know the one. She memorably planted a kiss\u00a0on Britney Spears<\/a> and Christina Aguilera<\/a>. But turns out, she was originally going to be performing with someone else in the mix.<\/p>\n

In a recent interview, Jennifer Lopez<\/a> revealed she was set to take the stage with the \u201cLike a Virgin\u201d star and Spears. Speaking with E! News<\/em><\/a> ahead of the debut of her rom-com flick Shotgun Wedding<\/em><\/a> with Josh Duhamel<\/a>, Lopez explained, I was filming a movie in Canada, and we had met \u2014 me, her [Madonna] and Britney\u2014 to do it at her home, and then I just couldn\u2019t get off the film. So, we couldn\u2019t do it.\u201d<\/p>\n

The \u201cJenny from the Block\u201d songstress added, \u201cThey got Christina Aguilera, I think, to do it, and I didn\u2019t wind up doing it.\u201d The Marry Me<\/em><\/a> actress expressed her great reverence for the icon. \u201cI love Madonna. I\u2019m a huge fan. I always have been.\u201d<\/p>\n

At the now-historic awards show moment, Madonna opened the 2003 MTV VMAs with Spears and Aguilera, performing renditions of her songs, \u201cLike a Virgin\u201d and \u201cHollywood.\u201d There was a guest appearance from Missy Elliott<\/a>, and the four performed Elliott\u2019s \u201cWork It.\u201d<\/p>\n

Madonna then famously smooched both Spears and Aguilera before the legendary performance wrapped. In 2003, the media highlighted Spears and Madonna\u2019s kiss far more than Aguilera\u2019s, quickly spanning the camera to cut to Spear\u2019s ex, Justin Timberlake<\/a> for a reaction.<\/p>\n

In 2018, Aguilera reflected on the moment with Sirius XM\u2019s Radio Andy<\/em><\/a>. \u201c”And you know why they cut it? They cut away to get Justin’s reaction,” she said. “I saw the newspaper the next day and it was like, ‘Oh \u2014 well I guess I got left out of that
