Sydney Sweeney<\/a> is a busy bee in 2023. It was announced that she’s adding to her slew of forthcoming projects, and will\u00a0star in a new romantic comedy, opposite Top Gun: Maverick<\/em><\/a> actor Glen Powell.<\/p>\n

According to Deadline<\/em><\/a>, Sony Pictures has acquired the R-rated flick, directed by filmmaker Will Gluck of Friends with Benefits<\/em> and Easy A<\/em> fame. Gluck will also produce alongside Joe Roth, and Jeff Kirschenbaum as part of a deal with Sony and his company Olive Bridge Entertainment. \u00a0Sweeney will sign on as executive producer through her company Fifty-Fifty Films<\/a>, with Alyssa Altman and Natalie Sellers from RK Films.<\/p>\n

While film is still without a title, and much of the plot remains under wraps, the film is based on a script written by Ilana Wolpert, which Gluck is rewriting. Production is expected to begin in Australia next month.<\/p>\n

Powell took to Instagram<\/a> with the news, posting the Deadline<\/em> article announcing the project and writing, \u201cWon a trip to Australia with my fancy friends. So excited for this one\u2026\u2708\ufe0f\ud83e\udd98 \ud83d\udd25\u2764\ufe0f.\u201d Sweeney did the same with the caption<\/a>, \u201csee you soon mate ;).\u201d Powell commented on Sweeney\u2019s post, \u201cSydney in Sydney \ud83d\udd25\ud83d\udd25\ud83d\udd25.\u201d<\/p>\n

Last year, Sweeney landed a double-Emmy nomination<\/a> for her work in the HBO smash hits Euphoria<\/em> and The White Lotus<\/em>. This year, Sweeney will star in the upcoming Marvel film Madame Web<\/em> alongside Dakota Johnson, Tony Tost\u2019s directorial debut National Anthem<\/em>, and Reality<\/em>, Tina Satter\u2019s film based on the American intelligence specialist and whistle-blower Reality Winner.<\/p>\n

In October, Deadline<\/em><\/a>\u00a0reported that Sweeney will star in and executive produce the new\u00a0Barbarella<\/em><\/a>\u00a0movie for Sony Pictures. The studio hasn\u2019t named a director or writer yet, but the film is based on Jean-Claude Forest\u2019s French comic book series on a space-age vixen that was later turned into the 1968 movie starring\u00a0Jane Fonda<\/a>.<\/p>\n

She\u2019s also attached to an upcoming adaptation of The Registration <\/em>by Madison Lawson. Deadline<\/em><\/a> announced the news in July, and Sweeney is set to both star and executive produce.<\/p>\n

And don’t forget, season 3 of Euphoria<\/em><\/a> is also on the horizon. We’ll be keeping an eye on everything she’s juggling, so watch this
