Prince Harry<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0tell-all memoir,\u00a0Spare<\/em><\/a>, hits shelves on Jan. 10, but drama-filled excerpts are already leaking. Among the bombshells, the Duke of Sussex looked back on the moment Meghan Markle<\/a> met his father, King Charles<\/a>\u00a0and Harry\u2019s stepmother, Queen Consort Camilla<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Page Six<\/em><\/a> reported that in the new book, Prince Harry explained that he advised Markle to wear her hair down and wear minimal makeup, just the way \u201cPa likes it,\u201d to ensure that the Duchess received King Charles\u2019 royal seal of approval. According to Harry, his father \u201cdidn\u2019t approve of women who wore a lot\u201d of makeup.<\/p>\n

It’s reported that the couple \u201crehearsed\u201d the meeting \u201cseveral times,\u201d to make sure Markle knew to \u201ccurtsy\u201d and to only refer to his father as \u201cyour royal highness” or “sir.\u201d The Duke instructed Markle to only give Charles a kiss if he \u201cleans in.\u201d Prince Harry also informed Markle that a curtsy wasn\u2019t \u201cnecessary\u201d for the Queen Consort.<\/p>\n

\u201cMeg looked beautiful,\u201d he recalled, describing the \u201cfull skirt patterned with flowers,\u201d Markle wore for the big occasion.<\/p>\n

All their prepping made the first meeting a success, where Harry said they talking about their beloved \u201cfur babies.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite their pleasant beginnings, the relationship went downhill when Markle and Prince Harry\u2019s relationship got more serious. Harry described his father as jealous and recalled that King Charles told him there was not \u201cenough money\u201d for Markle to be a part of the royal family.<\/p>\n

\u201cPa might have dreaded the rising cost of maintaining us, but what he really couldn\u2019t stomach was someone new dominating the monarchy, grabbing the limelight, someone shiny and new coming in and overshadowing him,\u201d he wrote, according to Page Six.<\/em><\/p>\n

Prince Harry noted that Charles had \u201clived through that before,\u201d when he was married to Princess Diana<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In their new Netflix documentary Harry & Meghan<\/em><\/a>, the Duke of Sussex opened up about the similarities between Markle and his late mother<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo much of what Meghan is, and how she is, is so similar to my mom. She has the same compassion, she has the same empathy, she has the same confidence. She has this warmth about her,\u201d said Harry. \u201cI accept that they\u2019ll be people around the world who fundamentally disagree with what I\u2019ve done and how I\u2019ve done it, but I knew that I had to do everything I could to protect my family, especially after what happened to my mom. You know, I didn\u2019t want history to repeat itself.\u201d<\/p>\n

After constant media attention and what Harry said was a lack of support or protection from the Firm, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex decided to step back from their royal duties in January 2020,
