If Twitter is to be believed, Parisians were insulted\u00a0en masse<\/em> by the cliche-riddled depiction of their city in the polarizing Netflix series, Emily in Paris<\/em><\/a>. There was, however, one doyenne of French style who didn\u2019t feel that way. In fact, the inimitable stylist Carine Roitfeld<\/a> says she loved the show, and that its cliches about life in the French capital were actually pretty spot on.<\/p>\n

Speaking to\u00a0New York Magazine\u2019s The Cut<\/a><\/em>, Roitfeld revealed she powered through the first season of\u00a0Emily in Paris<\/em> in one afternoon. \u201cIt\u2019s fun to see the way Americans see Paris\u2014maybe in a nicer way than it really is,\u201d she said. \u201cSome clich\u00e9s\u2026 but of course, there\u2019s some reality to it. We\u2019re not so nice when people meet us for the first time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Roitfeld had previously taken to Instagram to suggest that the character of Sylvie was inspired by her. In a carousel of spliced side-by-sides, we see actress Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, who plays Emily\u2019s boss in the series, wearing remarkably similar outfits to those worn by Roitfeld over the last few years. \u201cI had a bit of d\u00e9j\u00e0 vu while watching Sylvie\u2026\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n
