Days after the first trailer of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle<\/a>\u2019s highly anticipated Netflix documentary<\/a> dropped, we finally got a release date \u2014 and a second peek into the series.<\/p>\n

The six-episode series will be split into two volumes, the first will drop on the streamer on Dec. 8, followed by the second volume, which will land on Dec. 15.<\/p>\n

The Liz Garbus-directed project will provide never-before-seen insight at the couple\u2019s personal life, including one-on-one interviews with Harry and Meghan.\u00a0<\/strong>\u201cIt\u2019s really hard to look back on it now and go, \u2018What on earth happened?\u2019\u201d says Prince Harry in the full-length trailer. \u201cThere\u2019s a hierarchy of the family. There\u2019s leaking, but there\u2019s also planting of stories,\u201d he explains. “It’s a dirty game.”<\/p>\n

Tracing the Duchess of Sussex’s rise and fall in the eye of the British public’s court of public opinion, footage of the couple being bombarded by cameras is shown alongside Harry’s late mother, Princess Diana making her way through crowds of press and paparazzi. “The pain and suffering of women marrying into this institution \u2014 it’s this feeding frenzy,” says the Duke of Sussex. “I was terrified. I didn’t want history to repeat itself.” Meghan says, “I realized, ‘They’re never going to protect you.'”<\/p>\n

According to\u00a0Netflix<\/em><\/a>, the six-part documentary series, \u201cexplores the span of their relationship, from the early days of the couple\u2019s courtship to the challenges and controversies that prompted them to step back from the royal family.\u201d<\/p>\n

Harry & Meghan<\/em> will include interviews with not only the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, but friends and family who have never previously spoken about the couple publicly. Historians and journalists will also be featured, providing insight as to how the media painted and influenced the pair\u2019s relationship with the rest of the British royal family and the Commonwealth at large. “No one knows the full truth,” says Prince Harry. “We know the full truth.”<\/p>\n

Speaking with\u00a0The Cut<\/em><\/a> this summer, Markle confirmed the story will follow, \u201cthe piece of my life I haven\u2019t been able to share, that people haven\u2019t been able to see \u2014 our love story.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Sussexes reportedly\u00a0replaced<\/a>\u00a0the original director, Garrett Bradley over creative differences, and signed on Academy Award-nominated documentary filmmaker Garbus, known for\u00a0Love, Marilyn\u00a0<\/em>(2012) and\u00a0What Happened, Miss Simone?\u00a0(2015).<\/em><\/p>\n

Markle told\u00a0Variety<\/em><\/a>\u00a0in October, \u201cIt\u2019s nice to be able to trust someone with our story \u2013 a seasoned director whose work I\u2019ve long admired \u2013 even if it means it may not be the way we would have told it.\u201d She continued, \u201cBut that\u2019s not why we\u2019re telling it. We\u2019re trusting out story to someone else, and that means it will go through their lens.\u201d<\/p>\n
