On Dec. 1, President Joe Biden<\/a> and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden<\/a> welcomed French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte Macron, to the first White House state dinner during the Biden administration. For such a glitzy event, the Jill reached for a designer that’s been beloved by many First Ladies that came before her.<\/p>\n

The First Lady glistened in a custom hand-beaded navy-blue off-the-shoulder crepe floral Oscar de la Renta<\/a> gown for the occasion. While Jill has chosen the American fashion house time and time again, Oscar de la Renta has a long history<\/a> of dressing a number of First Ladies including Jackie Kennedy<\/a>, to Nancy Reagan, Hillary Clinton, Laura Bush, and Michelle Obama<\/a>. Over the years, the brand has become a sort of sartorial tradition within the White House.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, there were over 300 guests in attendance including some of Hollywood\u2019s finest. Jennifer Garner and her daughter whom she shares with ex Ben Affleck were on-hand, as well as Chrissy Teigen and John Legend, Ariana DeBose, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Baz Luhrumann, Gabriela Hearst<\/a>, Christian Louboutin, and more. Garner chose a glamorous gown from Ralph Lauren’s Fall\/Winter 2022 collection, while Affleck donned a Carolina Herrera tea-length dress with subtle hearts emblazoned throughout.<\/p>\n
