It seems the internet just loves making up a rumor on Zendaya<\/a> and Tom Holland<\/a>. Remember when the actress was apparently pregnant<\/a>? Well now there are rumors circulating that the couple are engaged after a Twitter account<\/a> announced the so-called news this week. While neither Zendaya or Holland have responded to the news (the\u00a0Spider-Man\u00a0<\/em>alum doesn’t use social media) the actress’ mother has come to the rescue in a cryptic post on Instagram.<\/p>\n

According to\u00a0Page Six<\/a>,<\/em> Zendaya’s mom Claire Stoermer posted a definition of “clickbait” to her Instagram Story on Wednesday. \u201cClickbait typically refers to the practice of writing sensationalized or misleading headlines in order to attract clicks on a piece of content,\u201d it read. “It often relies on exaggerating claims or leaving out key information in order to encourage traffic. The term is generally used in a dismissive sense.”<\/p>\n

Pop Hive\u00a0<\/em>announced the couple were engaged on Twitter \u2014 without naming a source or referencing evidence \u2014 after Us Weekly<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>reported that they were “serious and permanent.” \u201cThey\u2019re both in settling-down mode and are absolutely planning for a real future together,\u201d an insider told the outlet last week.<\/p>\n

The public’s fascination surrounding the relationship has proven to take a toll on Zendaya and Holland individually. In responding to a fake pregnancy report the Euphoria\u00a0<\/em>star wrote a statement that read: \u201cSee now, this is why I stay off Twitter\u2026”<\/p>\n

As for Holland he has kept his distance from social media, only returning to Instagram briefly to promote his charity organization, The Brothers Trust. In a video from August, the 26-year-old explained why he was taking a hiatus from all platforms.<\/p>\n

“So, I\u2019m taking a break from social media for my mental health because I find Instagram and Twitter overstimulating, to be overwhelming,” he said. “I get caught up and I spiral when I read things about me online and ultimately it\u2019s very detrimental to my mental state. So I\u2019ve decided to take a step back and delete the app.\u201d<\/p>\n

The couple have been dating since July 2021 after they were spotted kissing<\/a> at a red light in Los
