When Billie Eilish was first spotted<\/a> with The Neighbourhood frontman Jesse Rutherford, who also happens to be the ex-boyfriend of fashion It girl Devon Lee Carlson, the internet went into meltdown mode over the potential couple\u2019s 11-year age gap: Eilish is 20 years old and Rutherford is 31.<\/p>\n

Soon after a few Deux Moi sightings and one viral TikTok showing them holding hands at Universal Studios, Eilish and Rutherford took the narrative into their own hands<\/a>, confirming that yes, they\u2019re very much a couple and no, they DGAF what you think about it when they packed on the PDA on the red carpet in matching Gucci looks<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Since then, Eilish\u2019s Instagram comments have been full of unsolicited advice and trolling from “fans.” But if she\u2019s seen it \u2014 or cares about it \u2014 she\u2019s clearly unfazed. In a new interview with Vanity Fair<\/a>,<\/em> the singer opened up about her new relationship for the first time, saying she\u2019s \u201creally happy\u201d and can\u2019t believe she managed to catch the eye of someone she\u2019s been crushing on for years.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just am really inspired by this person, and, you know, he\u2019s inspired by me,\u201d Eilish told the publication of Rutherford. \u201cIt\u2019s really cool, and I\u2019m really excited and I\u2019m really happy about it.\u201d<\/p>\n

On the point of the public\u2019s perception \u2014 namely that of power dynamics and whether Eilish is being taken advantage of \u2014 she responded. \u201cSay what you need to say, but, like, I am in control right now. I did this.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued, \u201cI managed to get my way to a point in my life where I not only was known by a person that I thought was the hottest f**king f**ker alive, but pulled his ass! Are you kidding me? Can we just [get a] round of applause for me? I pulled his ass! All me! I did that s**t!
