In a new documentary, 30-year-old model-and-actress Cara Delevingne has opened up about coming to terms with her identity growing up, saying she thought she was “abnormal” when she was younger. <\/span><\/p>\n

Delevingne, who identifies as queer and gender-fluid, says she felt so much shame and confusion about her sexuality and gender that she resorted to suicidal thoughts. “<\/span>I couldn\u2019t talk to anyone about it. I had a lot of internalized homophobia and shame. I thought that I was abnormal,” she said during her new six-part BBC documentary Planet Sex with Cara Delevingne<\/span>.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

“I thought about ending my life, like I had multiple times, and I\u2019m so glad I didn\u2019t because if I can help any other kid that means the world to me,” she continued. “It means the world to that little queer kid I was. Or I am.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Delevingne added that today she\u2019s “happier\u2019 than she\u2019s \u2018ever been,” and wants to help young people who may be struggling in the same way she once was.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“I feel really, really proud of what we created. I know I shouldn\u2019t feel shame but I truly believe there are souls like me all over the world.”<\/span><\/p>\n
