In news that will peel you away from the extraordinary downfall of one-time Silicon Valley wunderkind Elizabeth Holmes, singer and actor Harry Styles<\/a> and director and actress Olivia Wilde<\/a> have called time on their almost two-year relationship.<\/p>\n

While the former couple are yet to make a public statement, sources close to both parties have confirmed to People<\/a><\/em> that the Grammy-nominated \u201cAs It Was\u201d singer, 28, and the Don\u2019t Worry, Darling<\/a><\/em> director, 38, are \u201ctaking a break\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe’s still touring and is now going abroad. She is focusing on her kids and her work in LA,\u201d says one source. \u201cIt’s a very amicable decision.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThey’re still very close friends,\u201d the source continues.<\/p>\n

Just four days ago, Wilde and her children \u2013 daughter Daisy, 6, and son Otis, 8 whom she co parents with ex-husband Jason Sudeikis<\/a> \u2013 were seen dancing at Styles’ November 15 concert in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

\u201cRight now, they have different priorities that are keeping them apart,\u201d a friend adds.<\/p>\n

Styles will be heading overseas for his Love On Tour<\/em> shows this month, first to South America, and then to Australia in February!<\/a> The pair were first linked on the set of Don\u2019t Worry, Darling<\/em>,<\/a> (of which Styles and Wilde both starred in). The wildly controversial hook-up was rumoured to be at the centre of Wilde and leading lady Florence Pugh<\/a>\u2019s relationship breakdown, a narrative which came to a head at this year\u2019s Venice International Film Festival<\/a>. While present at the premiere of the film in Venice<\/a>, Pugh did not partake in the press conference, an incredibly rare decision for the main star of a project.<\/p>\n

When asked about the feud at said press conference, Wilde responded, as per People<\/a><\/em>, \u201cFlorence is a force, and we are so grateful that she\u2019s able to make it tonight [to the premiere] despite being in production on\u00a0Dune<\/em>. I know, as a director, how disruptive it is to lose an actor even for a day, so I\u2019m very grateful to her. And we\u2019re really thrilled we\u2019ll get to celebrate her work tonight. I can\u2019t say enough how honoured I am to have her as our lead. She\u2019s amazing in the film.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAs for all the endless tabloid gossip and all the noise out there, I mean, the internet feeds itself,\u201d Wilde continued. \u201cI don\u2019t feel the need to contribute. It\u2019s sufficiently well nourished.\u201d<\/p>\n

But after all of the drama and rumours \u2013 and two loved-up trips to Italy \u2013 Styles and Wilde are over. In an interview with Vogue<\/a><\/em> in December 2021, Wilde noted that she was \u201chappier than ever\u201d with many contributing that to her relationship with the singer.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think what you realize is that when you’re really happy, it doesn’t matter what strangers think about it,\u201d she said. \u201cAll that matters to you is what’s real, and what you love, and who you love.”<\/p>\n

To be honest, I\u2019m going to miss seeing pictures of these two together, roaming about London\u2019s street hand-in-hand or outside restaurants in New York. This relationship was a great example of love at any age, and one that endured a lot of controversy and outside noise. I guess we\u2019ll just now look to Cher<\/a> to fill this void.<\/p>\n

So long, Harry and Olivia. We’ll always have Venice.<\/p>\n
