Elizabeth Debicki<\/a> conjured a specific image of Princess Diana<\/a> at the The Crown<\/em>\u2019s season 5<\/a> red carpet world premiere. On Tuesday evening, the actress stepped out at the Theatre Royal in London, in a gown that’s very reminiscent of one the late Princess of Wales once wore.<\/p>\n

Debicki plays the Princess in the highly anticipated upcoming season of the Netflix show and paid homage to her on-screen character by donning a Dior Haute Couture<\/a> gown from the brand’s Spring\/Summer 2022 Couture collection.<\/p>\n

Debicki adorned a strapless black silk crepe gown with ribbed pleats across the bust and a panel that was draped around the neck and extended into a train. The Australian actress emblazoned a dainty Remembrance poppy pin, traditionally worn to honor fallen troops in conjunction with Remembrance Day on November 11. She accessorized with Dior pieces<\/a> including Bois de Rose rings, bracelets and ear cuffs in yellow gold, pink gold and diamonds, with Rose Dior<\/span> Couture earrings in pink gold and diamonds from Dior<\/span> Joaillerie.<\/p>\n

The actress styled her platinum blonde strands into an effortless, wispy updo and kept her makeup glowing and rosy, with a thick feline flick of eyeliner.<\/p>\n

The ensemble mirrored the baby-blue flowing chiffon Catherine Walker dress Princess Diana wore to the Cannes Film Festival in 1987.<\/p>\n

It’s not the only dress Princess Diana has worn that Debicki recreated. In the new season of the Netflix hit, the Tenet<\/em> actress wears one of the late royal’s most iconic looks \u2014 the off-the-shoulder LBD from Greek designer Christina Stambolian, which has since been dubbed, “the revenge dress<\/a>.” Princess Diana wore the iconic dress to attend a fundraiser for the Serpentine Gallery in Kensington Gardens in 1994 the very same evening her estranged husband Prince Charles publicly admitted to having an affair with current Queen Consort Camilla Parker Bowles.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt fascinated me how entranced people were with that dress,\u201d the actress explained to\u00a0Entertainment Weekly<\/a><\/em>. The importance of the style moment was not lost on Debicki. When it came to recreating the scene, she said it felt \u201cvery significant and quite powerful, but also it provoked something in me as an actor. I can\u2019t really explain it. It\u2019s pretty incredible that a dress would represent a moment in history, or that this human\u2019s life would represent so much and become so iconic. So that was a big day on set for me!\u201d<\/p>\n

Further connecting her Dior moment to the royal, Elizabeth Debicki recently participated in a new episode of Dior’s \u201cIn My Lady<\/a>\u201d series. The brand ambassador\u00a0shared what she keeps in her Lady Dior<\/a> handbag saying, \u201cmy whole life is in this bag right now because I\u2019m playing Princess Diana on the ground.”<\/p>\n

Adding, “The Lady Dior bag<\/a> that we know was renamed for her, and I have been using a different bag on set, but this is mine and it’s full of my things, and it\u2019s a whole universe in this bag.\u201d<\/p>\n
