Jennifer Lawrence<\/a> will no longer be portraying the disgraced former biotech entrepreneur Elizabeth Holmes<\/a> after watching Amanda Seyfried<\/a>\u2019s performance as the Theranos founder in the Hulu limited series The Dropout<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Academy Award-<\/a>winning actress was previously tied to the Apple Original Films project Bad Blood<\/em>, based on the 2018 nonfiction work Bad Blood: Secrets and Lies in a Silicon Valley Startup<\/em> by journalist John Carreyrou. Lawrence would have starred as the infamous fraudster, directed by Don\u2019t Look Up<\/em><\/a>‘s Adam McKay.<\/p>\n

In a new interview with the New York Times<\/em><\/a>, Lawrence explained why she would be exiting the film following Seyfried’s Emmy-winning<\/a> portrayal in The Dropout<\/em>. \u201cI thought she was terrific,\u201d Lawrence told the publication. \u201cI was like, \u2018Yeah, we don\u2019t need to redo that.\u2019 She did it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Reporter Kyle Buchanan tweeted<\/a> the sentiment, adding that the star arrived for her interview in a black turtleneck. \u201cI tried on a hundred outfits for this and ended up just looking like Steve Jobs. Or Amanda Seyfried,” said Lawrence.<\/p>\n

Famous for her black turtlenecks and adoration for Steve Jobs, Holmes once claimed<\/a> to have had 150 black turtlenecks<\/a> on rotation.<\/p>\n

The Dropout<\/em> is based on the 2019 ABC News podcast of the same name and follows the true story of Holmes’ journey creating Theranos, and the lengths at which she was willing go to appear successful. Holmes was convicted of defrauding investors in connection with her blood-testing startup.<\/p>\n

Seyfried took home the 2022 Emmy Award<\/a> for outstanding lead actress in a limited series or movie for her transformation into the founder. \u201cIt was the biggest challenge of my career,\u201d Seyfried told GRAZIA USA<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n
