For more than a decade, Australian designer Kym Ellery has been outfitting stylish women<\/a> both in Australia and overseas with the voluminous delights she designs under her namesake label. Two years ago Ellery relocated both herself and the brand to Paris, where she has continued to tantalize the local and international industries, in part with her unexpected brand collaborations.<\/p>\n

For the brand’s spring-summer 2021 season, for example, Ellery debuted a collection designed in conjunction with the avant-garde Dutch designer Duran Lantink. Titled “When Two Become One,” the brand sent Lantink 150 pieces from the Ellery archive, which he spliced into totally new, Frankenstein-turned-chic creations. Now, she’s working with the culty Los Angeles denim label SLVRLAKE, on a capsule collection of 70s-style flared denim pieces called “The Future West.”<\/p>\n

SLVRLAKE burst onto the scene in 2018, with their luxurious take on California-made denim. They call their aesthetic “premium vintage,” using indigo-dyed denim to create flattering designs that quickly gained a cult following among the likes of Selena Gomez, Emilia Clarke, Irina Shayk and Blake Lively (the latter was wearing the brand’s wide-leg blush jeans in her viral ‘photoshopped’ Instagram post<\/a> last month).<\/p>\n

The SLVRLAKE x Ellery collaboration will feature a tight edit of tailored denim separates, combining the voluminous flares Ellery is best known for with the Cali-cool fabrications of SLVRLAKE’s archive. Stand-out pieces include a structured denim corset with contrast stitching and a knee-skimming denim ‘trench’ with a stiff statement collar.
