Weeks after Queen Elizabeth II’s state funeral<\/a> following her death at age 96, we have new information on when the next royal ceremony will take place \u2014 King Charles’ coronation.<\/p>\n

Last week, Bloomberg reported<\/a> that King Charles’ official coronation will occur next year on June 3 at Westminster Abbey, almost 70 years after Queen Elizabeth was crowned on June 2, 1953. However on Oct. 11, Buckingham Palace officially revealed that the King will be crowned on May 6, 2023.<\/p>\n

While Charles ascended to the throne immediately following the death of his mother, he will take the coronation oath and will be anointed, blessed and consecrated by the Archbishop of Canterbury next year.<\/p>\n

Forbes<\/a> reported that the King wants the ceremony, which has been planned for years, to be more “more cost-efficient and less flashy,” and will be shorter and smaller than past coronations. While Queen Elizabeth had 8,000 attendees, Charles’ will have 2,000. He also reportedly wants the ceremony to represent different faiths and reflect the diversity of Britain, and per Queen Elizabeth’s blessing, Camilla will be crowned queen escort during the ceremony as well.<\/p>\n

Despite a pared-down approach, there’s nothing low-key about the Crown Jewels that will be involved. Charles will wear $4 billion of regalia which includes St. Edward’s Crown, the oldest and heaviest crown in Britain, which reportedly<\/a> weighs five pounds and features 444 precious and semi-precious gemstones. He will also be decked with two Sovereign’s Sceptres, the Sovereign’s Orb, Sword of Offering, the Imperial State Crown and Sovereign’s Ring.<\/p>\n

The latest royal news follows reports that came out earlier this week<\/a> that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are have “second thoughts” over their Netflix series that was slated to come out in December. They reportedly wanted to initially push the date<\/a> following the death of the Queen, but now Page Six<\/em> <\/a>reported that the couple “are having second thoughts on their own story, on their own project.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to the outlet\u2019s Netflix source, if Harry and Meghan \u201cwalk back content that they themselves have provided,\u201d it could \u201ceffectively shelve the project indefinitely.\u201d<\/p>\n

Something that may be weighing on the couple\u2019s mind is Prince Charles\u2019 decision whether or not to give their children, Archie and Lilibet, titles. According to\u00a0Vanity Fair<\/i><\/a>\u00a0royal expert Katie Nicholl, it was dependent on \u201cwhat happens in the coming months, particularly with Harry\u2019s book and their TV
