When it comes to luxury fashion<\/a>, you may not immediately find the words synonymous with “tattoos,” but fashion designer Sally LaPointe is changing that sentiment with an iconic new clothing collaboration.<\/p>\n

Her luxe fashion brand, LAPOINTE<\/a>, is known for its bright colors, statement silhouettes and head-to-toe sets, and its latest launch \u2014 which also happens to be the LAPOINTE’s first-ever collaboration \u2014 gives its usual style a unique twist thanks to some help from Hollywood-loved tattoo artist Jonathan \u201cJONBOY\u201d Valena<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Despite the obvious differences between the luxe fashion and tattooing industries, there are many synchronicities between LaPointe and JONBOY, including their long lists of A-list clientele \u2014 both of which include It girl and supermodel Hailey Bieber<\/a> \u2014 and their personal love for each other’s work. “The very first NYFW show I ever got to attend was LAPOINTE\u2019s SS17 runway show!” JONBOY shared. “I became a fan of her work not knowing that one day she would ask me to create a tattoo for her. Since then, we\u2019ve become close friends.”<\/p>\n

LaPointe felt the same way about her beloved tattoo artist. “I have many of Jon\u2019s tattoos and our [LAPOINTE] SS17 show was the first fashion show he ever attended; it was the most natural of pairings,” the fashion designer explained.<\/p>\n

Being that this is the brand’s first collab with another artist, LaPointe selected her partner thoughtfully. She stressed the importance of wanting it to “feel natural” and came to the conclusion that “working with a friend felt like the right way to start.”<\/p>\n

As a pioneer of the “tiny tattoo” movement, JONBOY’s work consists of delicate, minimalist tattoos, which often reference faith that stems from his background in seminary college. His most notable work is seen on popular celebrities including G-Eazy, Emily Ratajkowski, Travis Scott, Post Malone, Kendall and Kylie Jenner and, of course, the Biebers.<\/p>\n

When designing the LAPOINTE X JONBOY collection<\/a>, the tattoo artist tapped into his expertise and created simple yet sophisticated artistry for the clothing. The inspiration? None other than New York City \u2014 the place where JONBOY eventually took his career mainstream after years of living in the midwest.<\/p>\n

“I wanted to create designs that reflect my passion and tell the story of my relationship with New York City: A city that continues to surprise me with what\u2019s around the corner and a city that constantly challenges me,” the artist said.<\/p>\n

Both LaPointe and JONBOY reference their love for N.Y.C. with passion and emotion. “New York has my heart,” JONBOY continued, “and I hope our friends and followers fall in love with this special collection which my friend Sally and I collaborated on.” The fashion designer added to the sentiment stating, “Jon and I share a love for New York which inspired the capsule. Each piece holds a special place in my heart.”<\/p>\n

Aside from the history and friendship the pair share, there is yet another heartfelt aspect of the collection. Not only was this LAPOINTE’s first-ever collaboration, but it was also LaPointe’s first time behind the camera for her brand \u2014 shooting the entire capsule collection’s look book herself!<\/p>\n
