In all honesty, I never imagined that\u00a0<\/span>Kylie Jenner<\/span><\/a> would inspire me to purchase a pair of metallic orange pants. But now that I’ve seen her master the eye-catching style, it would be cruel to withhold the fact that I have my eyes on a lookalike version of the trend. And I intend to recreate the look sooner rather than later.<\/span><\/p>\n

On Monday, November 16, the Kylie Cosmetics founder posted a series of photos<\/a> wearing the statement-making latex pants.<\/a> In the accompanying caption, she wrote, “Dinner @ mine?” Naturally, thousands of prospective dinner guests flooded the comments section \u2014 as well as fans desperate to know the designer behind the ensemble.<\/span><\/p>\n

The pants are a\u00a0<\/span>LaQuan Smith<\/span><\/a> design, and they’re essentially straight off the runway. The Queens-born designer showed the Motor pants in his Spring\/Summer 2021 Ready-to-Wear collection, unveiled via a digital lookbook<\/a> this past September. Jenner wore the exact look presented by the designer, pairing the pants with his silk tuxedo bodysuit and transparent heels<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Styled by<\/span> Hollywood’s go-to dresser, Jill Jacobs<\/a><\/span>, the red-and-orange look not only presents a striking juxtaposition of colors but textures, as well, by teaming satin with latex. This cool-girl aesthetic perfectly defines the designer’s upcoming collection. The line is complete with a bodycon dress and bodysuit featuring the same orange latex design as Jenner’s pants. <\/span>Other standouts from LaQuan’s SS21 collection include rich shades of fuchsia, blue, and purple, in the form of latex trenchcoats, miniskirts, and jumpsuits.<\/p>\n

But there are softer pastel tones as well, which will be available in a variety of different silhouettes that are ideal for the fashion lover who’s not ready for such a vibrant shade of orange. These pieces reportedly take inspiration from the 70s, and one of the most popular vehicles of the decade. \u201cI was obsessed with the concept and started finding these vintage Cadillacs in baby blue and ice mint,\u201d Smith said in an interview.<\/a> \u201cI drew from the testimonies of my grandfather, who told us that back in the day in Brooklyn, he had a baby blue Caddy and dyed his poodle to match!\u201d<\/p>\n
