Ana de Armas<\/a> has been on a sartorial roll promoting her new film Blonde<\/em><\/a>. And for her latest stop on the press tour circuit, the Cuban-Spanish starlet stopped by The Late Show with Stephen Colbert<\/em> on Monday evening shining like a disco ball in her shimmering charcoal three-piece suit from Italian fashion house Brunello Cucinelli\u2019s Fall\/Winter 2022 collection.<\/p>\n

Styled by Samantha McMillen, de Armas wore a double-breasted jacket featuring wide lapels with a matching sequined vest underneath. The Gray Man<\/em> actress<\/a> styled her brunette tresses in a wispy, high ponytail and teamed her gleaming ensemble with a Logan Hollowell Reverse Water Drop Diamond Tennis Necklace<\/a> and a pair of classic black stiletto pumps.<\/p>\n

When GRAZIA USA <\/em>previously caught up with co-president and co-creative director Carolina Cucinelli<\/a> earlier this year, she explained how the brand has been expanding into the Hollywood style sphere. \u201cWe like the idea of mixing and matching pants and a jacket with other pieces, like a very funky T-shirt, or with precious shoes. We like the idea that women can adapt the look for a special event,” she shared.<\/p>\n

In keeping with Cucinelli’s sentiment, de Armas later swapped out her vest and jacket with a simple black tee, for an effortless, yet equally chic look.<\/p>\n

On the show, the actress discussed her portrayal of the Hollywood icon Marilyn Monroe<\/a>. \u201cI think we all have our public self and our private self. With Marilyn, you know, everything gets amplified because [of] the star that she is,\u201d de Armas said of her character\u2019s duality. \u201cFor her, it was something that, you know, was something that she kind of had to turn on and off whenever she needed it. It was kind of like a survival thing.\u201d<\/p>\n

The actress went on to explain that Blonde<\/em><\/a> began production before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic back in 2019. de Armas also revealed that she started shooting the James Blonde flick No Time to Die<\/em><\/a> just two days after wrapping Blonde<\/em>, revealing that her character Paloma is sprinkled with a little bit of Monroe. \u201cThis character was so bubbly, and so bad-ass, and a completely different energy,\u201d said de Armas. \u201cBut if you really look at it there is some kind of Marilyn in her.\u201d<\/p>\n

During her late night appearance, the actress also addressed her triumphant 14-minute standing ovation at the premiere of Blonde<\/em> at the 2022 Venice Film Festival. \u201cIt was just very emotional. You\u2019re there with the audience, and the best thing that can happen is that you get that reaction,\u201d she said. \u201cYou just don\u2019t expect that it\u2019s going to be that long\u2014but the audience doesn\u2019t lie. It\u2019s just happening for real, that\u2019s what they\u2019re feeling. It\u2019s very moving.\u201d<\/p>\n

During other stops on her press tour, de Armas has been embodying Monroe’s iconic style. For the Los Angeles premiere<\/a> of the film, de Armas donned a gilded, paillette covered Louis Vuitton gown<\/a> with a plunging, halter neckline, resembling one of Monroe’s iconic style moments \u2014 her gold lam\u00e9 gown from 1953’s Gentlemen Prefer Blondes<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The Knives Out<\/em> actress channeled her character on the 2022 Venice Film Festival red carpet<\/a> as well, choosing a pretty pink hand-pleated Louis Vuitton gown<\/a> for the evening. The creation\u2019s silhouette mimicked that of Monroe\u2019s legendary white dress from The Seven Year Itch<\/em>, which has the famous scene of her skirt blowing up in the wind as she stood over a New York City subway grate.<\/p>\n

The gown’s color and de Armas’ substantial diamond necklace seem to reference Monroe’s costume in the “Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend” sequence in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes<\/em>. Both scenes are recreated in the forthcoming dramatized biopic.<\/p>\n

Based on Joyce Carol Oates’s bestselling novel of the same name, Blonde is set to drop on Netflix on Sept. 28.<\/p>\n

Known for its rare rating of NC-17, the fictionalized film \u201cboldly reimagines the life of Marilyn Monroe, exploring the split between her public and private selves,\u201d according to the streamer\u2019s official synopsis. Starring\u00a0Bobby Cannavale and Adrien Brody as her ex-husbands, baseball player Joe DiMaggio and playwright Arthur Miller respectively, Julianne Nicholson, Xavier Samuel and Evan Williams round out the cast.<\/p>\n
