The 2022 MTV VMAs<\/a> brought out music’s biggest names, but there was one particular star that no one was expecting to see on Sunday night \u2014 and they arrived in an even more unexpected way. Johnny Depp<\/a> hovered above the audience at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey as a “Moon person,” giving a nod to the statuette winners receive at the Video Music Awards. <\/span><\/p>\n

Depp appeared virtually and his face was featured on a screen on the astronaut\u2019s helmet while his voice rang throughout the auditorium joking, \u201cHey, you know what, I needed the work.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The 59-year-old Pirates of the Caribbean<\/i><\/a> star continued, \u201cI just want you guys to know that I\u2019m available for birthdays, bar mitzvahs, bat mitzvahs, weddings, wakes, any ole\u2019 thing you need. Anything. You name it. So\u2026Oh! I\u2019m also a dentist.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Making three brief, surprising cameos in the space suit, Depp returned from a commercial break declaring, \u201cHey VMAs, let\u2019s get back to the f***ing music, shall we?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The appearance comes almost three months after the jury deliberation of Depp\u2019s lengthy defamation trial with ex-wife Amber Heard<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Depp, was awarded a cumulative $15 million in damages while Heard was granted $2 million, resulting in a legal win for the\u00a0Charlie and the Chocolate Factory<\/em>\u00a0star.<\/p>\n

Depp claimed he missed out on several different contracts after Heard wrote an op-ed in 2018 for\u00a0The Washington Post<\/em><\/a>, describing herself as a survivor of domestic violence. While the\u00a0Aquaman<\/em>\u00a0actress<\/a> never explicitly referred to her ex-husband by name, Depp claimed $50 million in damages in 2019, but was delayed due to the COVID-19
