You’d absolutely be living under a rock if you didn’t hear about Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck<\/a>‘s huge wedding celebration<\/a> that occurred over the weekend. What you might not know just how many scandals rocked the nuptials.<\/p>\n

Firstly, an ambulance was apparently called. According to The Daily Mail<\/i><\/a> Affleck’s mother had a nasty fall the day prior to the wedding celebrations, resulting in an injured leg that required hospital treatment. Thankfully, a source told the outlet that in the end, the injury “wasn’t serious.”<\/p>\n

Then, there was the controversy around their wedding location. The couple chose to celebrate their marriage (which officially happened last month in Vegas<\/a>) on Affleck’s sprawling Georgia property. The problem? The home used to be a \u201cthriving rice plantation\u201d called the Hampton Pastures in pre-Civil War times, according to WTOC<\/a>. Given Ben Affleck’s ancestors were known slave owners<\/a>, and he has in the past tried to suppress that information, some are unimpressed with the couple’s decision to celebrate their love in a location that’s historically been a place of oppression. “Wait isn\u2019t Ben <\/span>Affleck<\/span> the dude who tried to hide the fact his ancestor were slave owner? And yet he\u2019s getting married to Jennifer Lopez\u2026 on a <\/span>plantation<\/span>???” was one of many tweets<\/a> questioning the choice. While weddings on properties that previously operated as plantations are popular in America, after Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds<\/a> were criticized for their 2012 plantation wedding, it was to be expected that fans would question this choice of venue.<\/span><\/p>\n

On to the guests \u2014 the two most notable absences were Affleck’s ex-wife, Jennifer Garner, and his brother, Casey Affleck. Garner, to be fair, was apparently invited but declined due to working on a project in Texas<\/a>. She was, however, completely in support of the celebration and her children with Affleck \u2013 Violet, Seraphina and Sam \u2013 were all in attendance.<\/p>\n

Casey Affleck’s absence was probably the most surprising, although a source told\u00a0People<\/em><\/a> that his non-attendance was due to parental obligations. He did post a throwback pic of Jennifer Lopez to celebrate their wedding however, so it sounds like there is no bad blood there.<\/p>\n

Even with all of these dramas, the images starting to come through via paparazzi look fantastic. Lopez will likely post her own series of photos via Jennifer Lopez’s newsletter, On The JLo<\/a>,\u00a0<\/em>so if you’re keen to get the behind-the-scenes snaps, it’s worth signing up in
