Selena Gomez<\/a> is reportedly teaming up with 20th<\/sup> Century Studios for a reboot of the 1988 romantic-comedy, Working Girl<\/em>. According to Deadline<\/em><\/a>, Gomez is in talks to produce the new project that is likely to premiere on Hulu (which is also the streamer for her Emmy-nominated<\/a> show Only Murders in the Building<\/em><\/a> in which she both stars and produces).<\/p>\n

With Disney\u2019s Diary of a Future President<\/em> creator Ilana Pen\u0303a set to adapt the script, she joins the former Disney star<\/a> in their new venture. A director has not yet been announced, nor has a cast been set, as it’s not yet been confirmed whether Gomez will star in the reboot in addition to her production duties.<\/p>\n

The 1988 film follows the determined New York City receptionist Tess McGill (played by Melanie Griffith) who takes charge of the office while her unappreciative boss (portrayed by Sigourney Weaver) is on leave with a broken leg. Secretly adopting her boss\u2019 identity while she is away, McGill takes on a major deal with an investment broker (Harrison Ford) before her boss discovers what she\u2019s been up to.<\/p>\n

Garnering box office success and critical acclaim, Working Girl<\/em> reeled in six Academy Award nominations including Best Picture, Best Actress for Griffith, and Best Supporting Actress nominations for Weaver and Joan Cusack.<\/p>\n

Having served as executive producer on a myriad of projects, Gomez has worked behind-the-scenes of the series 13 Reasons Why<\/em>, the Netflix docuseries Living Undocumented<\/em>, and both stars in and produces the HBO series Selena + Chef<\/em>, as well as Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Among other projects, the Rare Beauty founder<\/a> is set to star in the screen adaptation of In the Shadow of the Mountain<\/em>, based on the autobiographical story by the legendary Peruvian mountaineer Silvia V\u00e1squez-Lavado. Set for a 2022 release, the Elgin James-directed project will see Gomez play Lavado as she struggles with her past as a victim of childhood assault, finding solace in mountaineering. Gomez will also produce the film through her company July Moon
