Overnight he proved to be a champion for women \u2014 not that we ever doubted him \u2014 when he responded to controversy on Florence Pugh’s highly-publicized Valentino dress<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Via Instagram stories in a now-expired slide he reposted a photo of Pugh and captioned it: \u201cWhat. Is. So. Terrifying?\u201d The Bridgerton\u00a0<\/em>actor continued below the image, writing, \u201cTake a look at yourself fellas. Then take a look at your mates and step up when it\u2019s time to step up. When the boys are out of line, have a word.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe weird thing about misogyny is men actually listen to other men. So do your bit, cos the next few years in particular are gonna be a really good time to listen, and take some responsibility, for everyone\u2019s sake,” he added, seemingly referring to the recent Roe v. Wade ruling.<\/p>\n

For the uninitiated, Pugh was forced to address body shamming comments on social media for a sheer tulle dress she wore to Haute Couture Week in Rome. \u201cIt isn\u2019t the first time and certainly won\u2019t be the last time a woman will hear what\u2019s wrong with her body by a crowd of strangers, what\u2019s worrying is just how vulgar some of you men can be,\u201d she wrote on Instagram.<\/p>\n

The actress received a wave of support in the comment section. Pierpaolo Piccoli, the creative director behind Valentino, wrote, “Respect” with a red heart emoji. Self-confessed feminist Jameela Jamil commented, “You’re a magical fucking queen and we do not deserve you.” Fellow actress Gemma Chan added, “Love
