The Prince of Wales launched a luxury fashion line, and one thing’s for sure: the 18-piece collection is fit for a royal<\/a>. The Modern Artisan Project’s capsule collection<\/a> officially launched on Thursday, November 12. The sophisticated line of menswear and womenswear is available\u00a0at Net-a-Porter, Yoox, Mr Porter, and The Outnet.<\/p>\n

So if you’re wondering how this collection came to be, the YOOX Net-A-Porter Group and the Duke of Cornwall’s The Prince’s Foundation<\/a> came together to develop The Modern Artisan<\/a> project in November 2019. It’s mission? “To equip young artisans with the skills to succeed in a fast-paced digital landscape and produce luxury apparel collections to the highest standards,” says the Italian fashion retailer.<\/a><\/p>\n

The collection is formally named “YOOX NET-A-PORTER for The Prince\u2019s Foundation,” as 100 percent of profits will benefit the organization, founded by Prince Charles in 1986. The educational charity was developed with the mission of promoting and championing a sustainable approach to how we live our lives. This project was specifically focused on helping skilled craftsmen perfect their high-end textile skills.<\/p>\n

Over the year, the team notes that “six outstanding students from Italy’s prestigious Politecnico di Milano were tasked with conceptualizing a collection with sustainability at its core, while another four graduates from the UK completed a specialist training program to produce it.” The pieces were crafted at Dumfries House (home of The Prince’s Foundation) in Scotland from fine silk, cashmere, and wool.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor me, I have always tried to use my own wardrobe to highlight great craftsmanship, whether that is in the manufacture or, more often these days, the repair of an item,\u201d Prince Charles tells The Telegraph <\/em><\/a>in line with the collection’s launch.\u00a0\u201c<\/em>I have always believed in the ‘Buy once, buy well’ philosophy, so the more I wear them, the more sustainable I hope I become!\u201d<\/p>\n
