Some very sad news this morning. Actor Naya Rivera, who played the cheerleader Santana Lopez on hit American series Glee<\/em>, is presumed dead after her four-year-old son was found on a boat in a lake in Southern California.<\/p>\n

The 33-year-old had rented the boat on Wednesday afternoon at Lake Piru, north-west of Los Angeles. Her son, Josey Hollis Dorsey was spotted by another person in their boat three hours after the actor had rented her boat, reported CBC Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

The young boy allegedly told investigators that his mom had gone for a swim but never got back on the boat.<\/p>\n

The lake was immediately scoured by rescue and dive teams. The search resumed on Thursday but they are yet to find Rivera.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe’re presuming that an accident happened, we’re presuming that she drowned in the lake,\u201d Officer Chris Dyer of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department. \u201cThere are no signs of foul play, no signs that anything went wrong, besides a tragic accident.\u201d<\/p>\n

“The goal is still to bring Ms. Rivera home to her family so they can have some closure,” Mr. Dyer said.<\/p>\n

The lake itself has seen other people drown in the past. “Dangerous conditions” meant the search for Rivera had to be suspended at 10pm on Wednesday night. \u201cWe\u2019re talking during the day 8 to 10 inches of visibility in the lake, lots of debris, full-sized trees and debris under the water and varying depths,\u201d Dyer said. There\u2019s a lot of uneven terrain under the water which you guys don\u2019t see.”<\/p>\n
