Image supplied<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Founded in 2014, <a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/articles\/ronald-van-der-kemp-couture-2020\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ronald van der Kemp<\/a> (RDVK) is the world\u2019s first sustainable couture fashion house, ethically crafted with high-end existing materials and leftovers from fashion&#8217;s notoriously untenable past. Like so many other designers, van der Kemp had planned to show his Fall\/Winter 20\/21 Couture Collection (or wardrobe, as he refers) in Paris, but the global health pandemic signaled the week&#8217;s closure forcing designers, van der Kemp included, to get creative.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_175227\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-175227\" style=\"width: 1024px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-175227\" src=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/three.jpg\" alt=\"Ronald Van Der Kemp Haute Couture\" width=\"1024\" height=\"1536\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-175227\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ronald Van Der Kemp Haute Couture. Image supplied<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>With roots in the phrase &#8220;reduce, reuse and recycle&#8221; van der Kemp opted to reimagine his existing pieces into 27 re-styled gender neutral looks. The result was a theatrical, over-the-top and decidedly Camp, but also proof that, as Kemp so eloquently put it, &#8220;you don\u2019t always need new things to keep it interesting.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_175228\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-175228\" style=\"width: 1024px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-175228\" src=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/six.jpg\" alt=\"Ronald Van Der Kemp Haute Couture\" width=\"1024\" height=\"1536\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-175228\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ronald Van Der Kemp Haute Couture. Image supplied<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Accompanying the zany fashion was beauty so bold and graphic it would have felt very much at home in the height of the &#8217;80s. Bowie-esque lids, lucid shapes and clashing color palettes were the look <em>du jour<\/em>. There was an impossibly high Greta Garbo brow, Kabuki-like white powdered skin, fantastical rainbow face paint and wild, uncontrollable curls. It was a notch higher than van der Kemp&#8217;s previous couture showing (where <a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/articles\/ronald-van-der-kemp-couture-2020\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Grace Jones was the muse<\/a>), taking a high stakes approach to color, shape and pigment, where the rules, quite simply, didn&#8217;t apply.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_175229\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-175229\" style=\"width: 800px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-175229\" src=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/one.jpg\" alt=\"Ronald Van Der Kemp Haute Couture\" width=\"800\" height=\"1200\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-175229\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ronald Van Der Kemp Haute Couture. Image supplied<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>RVDK opted to show this collection via eight short films shot in a deserted hotel in central Amsterdam in the last week of April &#8211; a time where creativity was all but put on hold. Image supplied<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>According to Kemp via <em>WWD<\/em>, this season proved more pertinent than ever when it came to communicating his sustainable message: &#8220;We see that the skies are clearer, nature blooms and even wild animals come out. rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">digital version of couture week<\/a> to be: bold, awe-inspiring and the perfect form of
