The cast of the hit psychological-drama, Yellowjackets<\/em>, reunited over the weekend for Showtime’s FYC Event in California, looking fabulous out of their soccer uniforms (and scary animal costumes).<\/p>\n

The cast including, Ella Purnell, Melanie Lynskey, Sophie N\u00e9lisse, Samantha Hanratty, Christina Ricci, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Tawny Cypress, Juliette Lewis and Sophie Thatcher all walked the carpet in a variety of glam gowns and patterned suits for the reunion.<\/p>\n

This sort of appearance only makes us more excited for season 2. It got the official green light in December 2021, so we’re breaking down everything we know ahead of the highly anticipated premiere. Beware of spoilers ahead<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The creators of Yellowjackets<\/em>, Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson, told Variety<\/a> <\/em>in May that they will be filming in Canada in the late summer. But even though it will technically be warm IRL, the second season will be set in the winter months. “We\u2019ve been calling season 2, \u2018The Winter of Their Discontent,'” Lyle said, which refers to the John Steinbeck book and line from William Shakespeare\u2019s \u201cRichard III. They also said they’re still in the writing process and are just “getting started” on the scripts.<\/p>\n

To jog your memory of where we left off, the girls faced a harsh winter in the wilderness, and discovered their bubbly friend and soccer team captain, Jackie, played by Ella Purnell, froze to death after having an argument with Shauna, played by Sophie N\u00e9lisse. In the very last scene of season 1, present day Natalie, played by Juliette Lewis (young Natalie is played by Sophie Thatcher), gets abducted by some sort of cult group that was connected to Lottie Mathews, played by Courtney Eaton.<\/p>\n

Something spooky also went down in the woods when Lottie, Van (played by Liv Hewson) and a young Misty (played by Samantha Hanratty) offer up the bear heart to the woods, as some sort of thank you and sacrifice.<\/p>\n

While Lyle and Nickerson are still finalizing the details of season 2, Lye told Entertainment Weekly<\/em><\/a> that we can expect to see a lot of adult Lottie this season, and get more insight into the cult aspect of the show.<\/p>\n

Showrunner, Johnathan Lisco said that viewers are also going to see more characters like adult Taissa, played by Tawny Cypress, (young Taissa is played by Jasmine Savoy Brown) unravel in season 2 as they sort out their trauma from the woods.<\/p>\n

Showtime executive, Gary Levine, told Vulture<\/a><\/em>, he wants the show to be on an annual cycle, saying, “I think our audiences deserve that, and I also think that when you have a show that has this kind of a momentum, you don’t want to let it dissolve.”<\/p>\n

We don’t have an official release date, but Levine hopes that it will be released before 2022 ends, just in time for winter.<\/p>\n
