Laura Dern<\/a> reunited with Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum and joined newcomers Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard for the next installment of the Jurassic Park <\/em>franchise this year. For the uninitiated of the fan favorite movies, Dern plays scientist Dr. Ellie Sattler and has returned to the film since conception in 1993. For what could be the final chapter in Jurassic Park \u2014<\/em>\u00a0Jurassic World: Dominion \u2014<\/em>\u00a0the actress has left her mark in the most perfect way.<\/p>\n

Speaking with\u00a0Vanity Fair<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>prior to the cinematic release this week, Dern shared that she opted out of any makeup to abolish a “sexist” stereotype. \u201cShe\u2019s not some sexy-scientist trope. I didn\u2019t wear makeup in this movie. She\u2019s real. She\u2019s divorced but loving life independent. She\u2019s raised kids. And she\u2019s at the height of her career, and she\u2019s using it as service to the world. She\u2019s really a modern, feminist female action hero, and that\u2019s a beautiful message.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 55-year-old added that she hadn’t planned on returning to the film franchise and insisted that if Dr. Sattler was to come back to the silver screen, she was going to an \u201cevolved scientist\u201d and \u201ctrue to who she was, which is being fearless yet vulnerable.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHer activism and feminism as a scientist was really important to me. I spoke with Steven and Colin, and we all wanted her to return with a new sense of self and advanced in her life and her work,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
