She did double duty this weekend hosting and performing on <em>Saturday Night Live<\/em>, she&#8217;s gearing up to drop her highly-anticipated new album, <em>Special<\/em>, in July, and is celebrating the launch of her <a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/us\/articles\/lizzo-shapewear-line-yitty\/\">new shapewear line, Yitty<\/a>, which debuted on April 12.<\/p>\n<p>With her foray into the shapewear space, the singer is a mogul in the making, following the likes of Rihanna (with her <a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/us\/articles\/lourdes-leon-savage-x-fenty-valentines-day-campaign\/\">lingerie brand Savage X Fenty<\/a>) and Kim Kardashian (with her <a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/us\/articles\/kim-kardashian-skims-victorias-secret-angels\/\">&#8220;solutionswear&#8221; brand, SKIMS<\/a>). It could feel like a lot of pressure to stand out in a celebrity-saturated market, but in a new interview, Lizzo shared what makes Yitty different and why there&#8217;s room for everyone.<\/p>\n<p>In a new interview, the &#8220;Good as Hell&#8221; singer spoke with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/lizzo-interview-yitty-shapewear-line-snl-11650284852\" target=\"_blank\"><em>WSJ<\/em><\/a>, and opened up about when she first had the idea for her line, six years ago.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I thought it was bizarre that nobody has tapped into this category in fashion,&#8221; Lizzo said. &#8220;Also, I hated this mentality of, &#8216;You\u2019re not good enough.&#8217; That\u2019s what shapewear kind of represented: &#8216;I don\u2019t look good enough in this dress so now this girdle is going to change that and make me look good and make me good enough.&#8217; I was like, &#8216;Nah, we need to end that.&#8217; We need to just create a product that is comfortable and doesn\u2019t breed shame, because there was a lot of shame with me wearing shapewear growing up.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>When specifically asked if she&#8217;s &#8220;worried about going up against SKIMS,&#8221; Lizzo had a clear answer. &#8220;Well, no, because I don\u2019t feel like I\u2019m going up against anybody. I think there\u2019s room for both of us. What SKIMS does is different than what I do, and giving the power to the consumer is really what it\u2019s all about.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>For Lizzo, what sets Yitty against the rest is celebrating every single body shape out there. &#8220;It\u2019s not just hourglass, and that shouldn\u2019t be the only desired body type,\u201d she said. \u201cThere\u2019s apple, there\u2019s triangle, upside down triangle, there\u2019s circle. There\u2019s slim girls with no booty. The line, created in partnership with athleisure company\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/go.skimresources.com\/?id=179872X1687632&amp;xs=1&amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Fskims.com%2F%3Fgclid%3DCjwKCAjwopWSBhB6EiwAjxmqDSTJyY6cQUVuraudGf_cGLwfHG_MOmuWlZqHhJ3DKjJDpIxAK73UJBoCHooQAvD_BwE\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Fabletics<\/a>, launched with three different collections, the \u201cNearly Naked,\u201d encompassing seamless pieces, \u201cMajor Label,\u201d including daily lifestyle garments and \u201cMesh Me,\u201d featuring versatile mesh styles that are interchangeable as outerwear.<\/p>\n<p>When she <a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/us\/articles\/lizzo-shapewear-line-yitty\/\">first announced the line<\/a>, she wrote on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CbvZY7Gv4JT\/\" target=\"_blank\">Instagram<\/a>, that Yitty is a &#8220;welcome letter to Every Body. This is *not* an invitation to change who you are\u2026 this is an opportunity to BE who you are on your terms.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In keeping with her overall mission of Yitty, being unapologetically <em>you<\/em>, Lizzo also opened up to in her new interview about a piece of advice that&#8217;s been a guiding force for her, from none other than Missy Elliott.<\/p>\n<p>She explained that while filming their music video, &#8220;Tempo,&#8221; she would &#8220;shrink&#8221; herself to get on Elliott&#8217;s shorter stature. &#8220;She was like, &#8216;Quit doing that. Don\u2019t ever shrink yourself on your set. This is your music video. You are the star. Whenever that s**t is yours, don\u2019t ever make yourself smaller for other people.&#8217; And I took that across the board.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Lizzo applied that same mentality to other aspects of life. &#8220;Don\u2019t shrink yourself in a literal way to make people comfortable, don\u2019t shrink yourself creatively. Don\u2019t limit yourself as a businesswoman. Don\u2019t shrink yourself when you\u2019re standing up for yourself in your personal life, in your relationships with people. And that was really helpful, because I\u2019m such a socially conscious person. I\u2019m always like, &#8216;Is everybody OK?&#8217; Nah, I hope you\u2019re OK, but I want to make sure I\u2019m OK too.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>With the launch of her new line, we have a feeling this is just the start for more mogul&#8217;ing to come for the
