After the Met Gala<\/a> was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, fashion’s biggest night<\/a> returned in September 2021 with a smaller-than-average gathering at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. On Monday, May 2, the Met Gala will will be back on its signature night, the first Monday in May, to raise funds for the museum’s Costume Institute. On April 11,\u00a0<\/span>Vogue<\/span><\/em><\/a>\u00a0announced that this year’s annual Gala celebrating the Costume Institute’s\u00a0<\/span>In America: An Anthology of Fashion<\/span><\/em> exhibition dress code will be white-tie “gilded glamour.” Attendees will step out in their best regencycore aesthetic<\/a> that will embody the grandeur of high society. Although the theme is ultimately left up to the guest’s own interpretation, we can expect to see over-the-top extravagant gowns typical of the Gilded Age, bold colors, brilliant corsetry and dazzling jewels galore as A-listers take the Met’s grand staircase.<\/span><\/p>\n

Last month, the institution announced that this year’s co-chairs will include <\/span>Blake Lively<\/span><\/a>, Ryan Reynolds, Regina King and Lin-Manuel Miranda. The stars will join the Gala’s honorary hosts, Anna Wintour, Tom Ford and Head of<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/em>Instagram, Adam Mosseri, to greet attendees at the entrance of the Met.<\/span><\/p>\n

This year’s Anthology of Fashion<\/em><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/em>is the second installment of the <\/span>In America: A Lexicon of Fashion<\/span><\/em> exhibition, which debuted in September. The Costume Institute will rotate out the 2021 exhibition highlighting some of America’s most prominent fashions, with pieces from a new assortment of designers to show the diversity that encapsulates American fashion.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The current\u00a0<\/span>In America: A Lexicon of Fashion<\/span><\/em> exhibition, featuring heritage brands like Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein, as well as new designers like Christopher John Rogers and Collina Strada, is on display in the Anna Wintour Costume Center until the end of March.
