After her star-making turn in Netflix\u2019s To All The Boys I\u2019ve Loved Before<\/em> trilogy, 24-year-old actress Lana Condor<\/a> is having a pretty amazing 2022. She and longtime love, Anthony De La Torre, got engaged \u2014 yes, the ring\u2019s a stunner<\/a> \u2014 and she plays a leading lady again opposite Riverdale<\/em> heartthrob, Cole Sprouse, in HBO Max\u2019s new romantic comedy, Moonshot, <\/em>out March 31.<\/p>\n

Condor may be this generation\u2019s Molly Ringwald, an atypical romantic lead who usually gets the guy, but she\u2019s also a remarkable woman who just produced her first TV series (another Netflix series called Boo, Bitch<\/em>, in which she also stars) and records sweet love songs with her fianc\u00e9 when they\u2019re bored.<\/p>\n

Everyone falls in love<\/h4>\n

“Something I loved and will always love with To All the Boys<\/em>\u2026 is that everyone falls in love. Period. Asian girls fall in love, too, and it\u2019s not a weird mystery,” Condor says. “I don\u2019t understand why love stories in the past \u2014 and still right now \u2014 have been reserved only for white people. That\u2019s not fair nor is it realistic.”<\/p>\n

Love triangles are a no-go<\/h4>\n

When I ask for relationship advice from the self-professed “love triangle expert” (her expertise coming from the To All The Boys<\/em> storylines, not real life), Condor is the opposite of fireworks and drama. “There\u2019s this weird misconception that love has to be difficult,” she muses. “It\u2019s messy and painful and there\u2019s so much passion, your world burns down. It\u2019s beautiful on paper, but it\u2019s not right. Love should feel safe and comfortable. With Anthony, I feel like I\u2019m in a cocoon. Love doesn\u2019t need to break you apart.”<\/p>\n

Oh hell no, wooden engagement rings!<\/h4>\n

“A few years ago, [Anthony] goes to me, ‘Wooden engagement rings are all the rage now.’ It was not funny at all,” Condor remembers. “I was like, ‘If you think for a second you\u2019re getting me a wooden ring, you got another thought coming!'” (Don’t worry, he went with a gorgeous diamond<\/a>, instead!)<\/p>\n

Her childhood dream was to be an astronaut<\/h4>\n

“That was what I was so initially drawn to with Moonshot<\/em>,” she says. “Matt Damon goes to space, but when do college kids get to do it?”<\/p>\n
