After starring in Mackage<\/a>‘s Fall 2021 ads, model Quannah Chasinghorse is back in front of the camera showing off the brand’s latest offerings \u2014 and just like the first time, the duo make the perfect partnership.<\/p>\n

“It’s so important to partner with brands and businesses that will not only do the work to uplift you as a person, but also uplift what you believe in,” Chasinghorse says in a statement provided to GRAZIA USA<\/em>. “Mackage is focusing on sustainability, recycling and, most importantly, doing the work. That\u2019s the beauty of this campaign: it\u2019s not all about me, it\u2019s about community.”<\/p>\n

The campaign, titled “Protect What Grounds You,” is meant to emphasize the connection to the natural world and the commitment to protect it, which perfectly aligns with Chasinghorse, who is a member of the Ha\u0308n Gwich’in and Oglala Lakota tribes and who prefers to call herself a “protector” rather than an “activist.”<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s a deeper concept,” she says. “As a protector, I\u2019m protecting my ways of life, reviving what was almost lost and fighting for what we are on the brink of losing to capitalism, climate change and colonial erasure. I\u2019m protecting our lands, and keeping traditions and culture alive for the future generations.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mackage\u2019s Chief Marketing Officer, Michelle Donnelly praises Chasinghorse in a statement to GRAZIA USA<\/em>. “Quannah is first and foremost a land protector and educator about Native American ways of life. She is a leader in confronting issues that affect all of our communities and pushes for a positive change for climate change and environmental justice, so it was a natural fit for Quannah to front our SS\u201922 campaign focused on sustainability,” says Donnelly. “We are also working with her to support a cause of her choice which we will reveal later in the campaign.”<\/p>\n

The collection includes pieces made from Mackage’s innovative and sustainable materials including E3-Lite (an elements-shielding fiber crafted from 100% recycled nylon) and Re-Stop (a 100% recycled nylon fabric with increased durability from its ripstop construction).<\/p>\n

“The garments featured on Quannah in the Spring-Summer 2022 campaign are 100% recycled or upcycled, which is something we could not state a few seasons ago,” says Donnelly of the brand’s focus on sustainability. “We are excited to work towards more sustainable processes by avoiding waste from concept to production and thinking about the entire lifecycle of a product in a non-linear way.”<\/p>\n

Chasinghorse worked with photographer Tyler Mitchell to shoot the campaign along the Malibu coastline to capture “a oneness with the water and terrain.”<\/p>\n

In the photos Chasinghorse models the spring collection of quilted sateen coats that come in a variety of styles including the poncho<\/a> ($790), and bomber<\/a> ($490), as well as peplum jackets<\/a> ($350) and down vests<\/a> ($450).<\/p>\n

Chasinghorse, who has walked the runways at shows like Gucci and Prabal Gurung, landed Calvin Klein and Chanel campaigns, and continues to break barriers in the industry, doesn’t show signs of slowing down.<\/p>\n

“I want to be known as someone that drove change in the industry, in the system and in the lives of those that came close to me,” the model says when asked about her legacy. “That I left my mark in society as someone who broke barriers and burned harmful stereotypes to the ground so that others can walk this path without having to break trail.”<\/p>\n
