The season 2 finale of Euphoria<\/em><\/a> was filled with ups, downs and closure. Lexi (Maude Apatow<\/strong>) showed her play, which was based on her life, to the student body, but throughout the show, which focused on her relationship with her sister, Cassie (Sydney Sweeney<\/strong><\/a>), her sibling became infuriated with the content she was focusing on.<\/p>\n

As a result, Cassie storms the stage and confronts Lexi about her play, leaving her in tears that she ruined the one thing she had going for her.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s so many things that are explored this season that weren\u2019t in the first season. Their dynamic is a lot more complicated than you would expect<\/a>,\u201d Apatow told Entertainment Tonight<\/em><\/a> of Lexi and Cassie’s relationship.<\/p>\n

Sweeney added, \u201cI was actually sad to see how complicated<\/a> it became as the season went on. Seeing what the sisters did to each other started to break me.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought in season 1, Cassie had her s**t together. I thought she was confident, she was going to find herself and there was going to be a really cool woman awakening inside,\u201d Sweeney said of where she sees her character’s arc going. \u201cAnd then I was just slapped in the face. Cassie is not together. So, I have no idea what she\u2019s going to do next season.\u201d<\/p>\n

Additionally, Cassie and Maddy<\/a> (Alexa Demie) then get into a fight over Nate (Jacob Elordi<\/strong>), who walked out of the play when there was a scene which featured buff men in the gym dancing on stage.<\/p>\n

The two girls are then seen in the bathroom, where Cassie admits that Nate broke up with her before she lashed out on stage. Maddy replied, “Don’t worry, this is just the beginning<\/a>.”<\/p>\n

As for what happens next, it’s unclear if Maddy and Cassie can become besties again.\u00a0\u201cWe obviously end with Maddy and Cassie\u2019s gorgeous friendship shattered. So, that leaves one to question whether or not they will reconnect, [if the] female friendship will thrive or if they will just never talk to each other again,” Demie shared.<\/p>\n
