A global health crisis has threatened lives and livelihoods, a climate catastrophe is closing in on earthlings by the day, the Black Lives Matter movement has become more powerful and prolific than ever before and tensions continue to rise between world leaders. Celebrities have become some of the primary influencers of change and record numbers of voters have arrived in droves &#8211; either by post or at polling booths &#8211;\u00a0 across the United States.<\/p>\n<p>Whether you hail from the US, or curiously watch from other corners of the globe, there is a lot to unpack. Florida, an important &#8216;swing state&#8217; will close its polls first at 7:00PM due to time difference as confirmed by\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2020\/upshot\/vote-counting-today-polls-election.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">The New York Times<\/a>.\u00a0<\/em>Georgia will also close at 7:00PM followed by North Carolina and Ohio at 7:30PM, Michigan and Pennsylvania at 8:00PM, Arizona, Minnesota and Wisconsin at 9:00PM and finally, Nevada at 10:00PM.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"article-subheadline-style\">In a\u00a0 <\/span><span class=\"quotation-style\">20-year period<\/span><span class=\"article-subheadline-style\">, fraud involving mailed ballots has affected<\/span><span class=\"quotation-style\"> 0.00006 percent<\/span><span class=\"article-subheadline-style\"> of votes<br \/>\n<\/span><span class=\"product-style\">4:00PM EST 11\/03\/2020<\/span> &#8211; Or one case per state every six or seven years, according to\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/live\/2020\/2020-election-misinformation-distortions?action=click&amp;module=Spotlight&amp;pgtype=Homepage#misinformation-election-day\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">The New York Times<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"quotation-style\">1.7 million<\/span><span class=\"article-subheadline-style\"> young latino voters have voted early<br \/>\n<\/span><span class=\"product-style\">3:40PM EST 11\/03\/2020<\/span> &#8211; According to the NALEO Educational Fund, 1.7 million young Latino voters have already submitted their ballots. As of 2:00PM local EST, nationally, voters have now cast 73.3 percent of the total votes counted in the 2016 general election, according to the US Elections Project. Broken down, these numbers look like this:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Total Early Votes:<\/strong> 100,978,567<br \/>\n<strong>In-Person Votes:<\/strong> 35,923,053<br \/>\n<strong>Mail Ballots Returned:<\/strong> 65,055,514<br \/>\n<strong>Mail Ballots Outstanding:<\/strong> 27,018,939<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"article-subheadline-style\">On ThE eVE OF ELECTION NIGHT, Joe Biden Leads Polling Predictions with\u00a0 <\/span><span class=\"quotation-style\">252 points<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"product-style\">11:00PM EST 11\/02\/2020 &#8211;<\/span> The\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/ig.ft.com\/us-election-2020\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Financial Times<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>finds that at the end of November 2nd and at the time of publishing in the United States, Joe Biden is leading with 252 Electoral College points according to current polling predictions. 49 points are from leaning states. Donald Trump is trailing behind at 125, with 48 of those from leaning states. The swing vote currently accounts for 161 points.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"article-subheadline-style\">There is a\u00a0 <\/span><span class=\"quotation-style\">97 in 100 chance<\/span><span class=\"article-subheadline-style\"> that Joe Biden Wins The Popular Vote<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"product-style\">10:40PM EST 11\/02\/2020<\/span> &#8211; Also predicted by\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/projects.fivethirtyeight.com\/2020-election-forecast\/?cid=rrpromo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Five Thirty Eight<\/a>,<\/em> there is an enormous chance that Joe Biden could win the popular vote. However in the United States, the election weighs almost entirely on the &#8216;Electoral College&#8217; vote. The party must have at least 270 electoral points to win the election with &#8216;swing states&#8217; often influencing the final result. There is less than a one percent chance that neither party gains 270 points where in turn, the Congress decides the next President.<\/p>\n<p>Below is an excellent explanation of the voting system.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"The Electoral College, explained\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ajavsMbCapY?start=1&#038;feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"article-subheadline-style\">THERE IS A <\/span><span class=\"quotation-style\">4 percent<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"article-subheadline-style\">CHANCE THAT THE ELECTION HINGES ON A RECOUNT<br \/>\n<\/span><span class=\"product-style\">10:35PM EST 11\/02\/2020<\/span> &#8211; According to\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/projects.fivethirtyeight.com\/2020-election-forecast\/?cid=rrpromo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Five Thirty Eight<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"article-subheadline-style\">Only <\/span><span class=\"quotation-style\">9<\/span><span class=\"article-subheadline-style\"> states expect to have at least <\/span><span class=\"quotation-style\">98 percent<\/span><span class=\"article-subheadline-style\"> of unofficial results reported by noon the day after the election<br \/>\n<\/span><span class=\"product-style\">10:25PM EST 11\/02\/2020<\/span> &#8211; It is unlikely we will have a final result on Election Night (which may become &#8216;Election Week&#8217;).\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/live\/2020\/11\/02\/us\/trump-vs-biden?action=click&amp;pgtype=Article&amp;state=default&amp;module=styln-elections-2020&amp;region=TOP_BANNER&amp;context=storyline_menu_recirc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">The New York Times<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>reports that a significant number of votes could still be outstanding. In addition to the above, New York and Alaska will not report any mail votes on election night. And officials in Michigan and Pennsylvania, two important states, have said full official counts could take several days.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"article-subheadline-style\">more than <\/span><span class=\"quotation-style\">3,600<\/span><span class=\"article-subheadline-style\"> troops across <\/span><span class=\"quotation-style\">16<\/span><span class=\"article-subheadline-style\"> states have been deployed<br \/>\n<\/span><span class=\"product-style\">9:00PM EST 11\/02\/2020 &#8211; <\/span>Regardless of the result, law enforcement is preparing for unrest across America. A federal judge has ruled to deny the throwing out of 127,000 ballots from Houston-based voters. The area is known for its strong Democratic following.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"quotation-style\">20 percent<\/span><span class=\"article-subheadline-style\"> of registered voters believe donald trump&#8217;s handling of the coronavirus is &#8220;excellent&#8221;<br \/>\n<\/span><span class=\"product-style\">5:30PM 11\/02\/2020<\/span>\u00a0&#8211; At a late-night campaign rally at Opa-Locka airport in the Miami area, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sbs.com.au\/news\/don-t-tell-anybody-donald-trump-hints-that-he-wants-anthony-fauci-fired-after-the-election\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Donald Trump told supporters<\/a> he would be firing Dr. Anthony Fauci. &#8220;Don&#8217;t tell anybody, but let me wait until a little bit after the election.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>According to <em><a href=\"https:\/\/morningconsult.com\/2020\/10\/14\/fauci-covid-pandemic-approval-polling\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Morning Consult<\/a> <\/em>and newly-released survey statistics, 32 percent of registered voters said Dr. Anthony Fauci\u2019s handling of the coronavirus is \u201cexcellent,\u201d while 20 percent said the same of President Donald Trump.
