Fans were excited when it was revealed that Carrie Bradshaw<\/a> (Sarah Jessica Parker<\/strong>), Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon<\/strong>) and Charlotte York (Kristin Davis<\/strong>) were reuniting on HBO Max’s new series And Just Like That<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

However, the trio aren’t the only ones featured in the new show, as Sara Ramirez<\/strong><\/a> (Che Diaz), Nicole Ari Parker<\/strong> (Lisa Todd Wexley) and Seema Patel<\/strong> (Sarita Choudhury) were brought on with interesting storylines.<\/p>\n

Che is not only Carrie’s boss on the writer’s podcast, but Miranda also has a crush on them<\/a> and decides to explore her sexuality.<\/p>\n

This isn’t Ramirez’s first rodeo though, as they previously starred on Grey’s Anatomy<\/em> as Dr. Callie Torres for 11 seasons \u2014 something they would be open to doing if the chance arises again.<\/p>\n

“Being part of the Shondaland family was one of the greatest honors of my life, one of the greatest privileges,” they stated. “It taught me so much, portraying a character that a lot of folks had not seen on TV including myself<\/a>. I will always have a soft tender place in my heart for that work family and that role. It was the role of a lifetime.”<\/p>\n

They continued, “I wouldn’t be who I am today without the experience I had on Grey’s Anatomy<\/em> and my heart is completely open to going back and checking in with Dr. Callie Torres. But that would only happen if the writers’ room and the story really organically led them to need a character like Callie to come back. They all know that I support them from afar and that I’m rooting for them.”<\/p>\n

The star, who moved to the United States at 8 years old, has also appeared in other stage performances and You’ve Got Mail<\/em>, starring Meg Ryan<\/strong> and Tom Hanks<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

But taking on their latest role in And Just Like That<\/em> has been a full circle moment<\/a> for the actor, as they determined they are non-binary in August 2020.<\/p>\n

“It felt like a really organic, natural fit,” they said. “Che is someone who came out as non-binary later in life and who speaks their truth unapologetically. I thought, ‘This character will teach me a lot about how to embrace the power<\/a> that you have even against systems that would have you shut down.'”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

When Diaz nabbed the role in And Just Like That<\/em>, they were so excited to collaborate<\/a> with the original trio.<\/p>\n

“I\u2019m particularly grateful to them. It was really surreal in the beginning, though, because I had watched the original Sex and the City<\/em> 20 years ago and had dreamed of guest-starring on the show, and then the series ended. So I thought my dream would not come true anymore \u2014 I figured, ‘Well, that\u2019s over’ \u2014 and then this past January, Michael Patrick King<\/strong> offered me the role on a Zoom call,” they recalled. “Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon were all so welcoming and kind to me from the beginning.”<\/p>\n

“At the first table read we had, Sarah Jessica Parker came right up to me and said, ‘What are your pronouns?’ I said ‘They\/them,’ and she said, ‘OK, great. I really want to get this right.’ Those are the kinds of experiences that I had from the beginning that signaled to me that I would be working with people who are really interested in progress, in learning, and in making space for our messy, beautiful humanity.
