Get ready to go back to the ’60s, as The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel<\/em><\/a> is set to return very soon! Production of season 4<\/a> was delayed due to the ongoing pandemic, but fans will finally get to see Midge (Rachel Brosnahan<\/strong>) and Susie Meyerson (Alex Borstein<\/strong>) on their screens on Friday, February 18.<\/p>\n

At the end of season 3, Midge was fired by Reggie (Sterling K. Brown<\/strong><\/a>) from Shy’s (Leroy McClain<\/strong>) tour after some of her jokes from her act the night before “hit too close to home.”<\/p>\n

\u201cI think we\u2019re going to pick up right after that. We may be doing a little jump within the season<\/a>, but when we first start up we want to [stay in that time]. I mean, what\u2019s the fun of totally destroying someone\u2019s soul and heart and not getting to see the aftermath? That\u2019s what comedy\u2019s made of, soul-crushing defeat,” creator Amy Sherman-Palladino<\/strong> told The Hollywood Reporter<\/em><\/a> about her vision for the upcoming season.<\/p>\n

Though Midge went through a lot of obstacles, Sherman-Palladino has no doubt that she can pick herself back up.<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s one step forward, two steps back \u2014 that\u2019s the life of a comic,\u201d she shared. \u201cAnd let\u2019s not forget, we\u2019re still talking about a female comic in 1960. It\u2019s hard enough for a female comic to get a toehold today, but forget about the \u201960s when there were, like, four of them. Knocking her back is never going to be the problem. We\u2019ve got a thousand ways to take her down. It\u2019s following her world and her trajectory that tells us what to do with her.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Brosnahan is looking forward to what Midge does next<\/a>. \u201cI think she definitely took some steps forward in season three, and then a couple steps back,\u201d she said. \u201cBut I\u2019m excited to see the ways in which her eyes keep getting opened to the world around her. There\u2019s so many new layers now, and I\u2019m excited to see the world keep expanding.\u201d<\/p>\n

Additionally, it looks like Abe (Tony Shalhoub<\/b>) and Rose (Marin Hinkle<\/b>) will be crashing at Midge’s apartment, Susie rents office space from her mob associates and Joel Maisel (Michael<\/b> Zegen<\/strong>) will attempt to find love.<\/p>\n

It looks like the main players will be returning, in addition to some familiar faces! Sherman-Palladino, who also created Gilmore Girls<\/em>, is bringing on the show’s alums, including Kelly Bishop<\/strong> and Milo Ventimiglia<\/strong>, in addition to John Waters<\/strong> and Jason Alexander<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey were the ones who really gave me my break,\u201d the This Is Us<\/em><\/a> star said of Sherman-Palladino and her husband, Daniel<\/strong>. \u201cThey\u2019re the ones who kind of put me on the map with\u00a0Gilmore [Girls]<\/em>\u00a0and with Jess.\u201d<\/p>\n

So, when the duo recruited him for Maisel, he didn’t hesitate<\/a>.\u00a0\u201cThey are the kinds of people that for me, I was, like, one, I\u2019m going to know them the rest of my life; and two, anytime they call, I\u2019ve got to be there,\u201d he revealed. \u201cSo, if they\u2019re like, \u2018Hey Mi, why don\u2019t you come in and a small bit on the show we\u2019re working on,\u2019 \u2018Great!\u2019 \u2018Hey if you could take us to the airport,\u2019 \u2018Sure!\u2019 Like, whatever you need, fake Mom and Dad.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for what to expect, Daniel teased:\u00a0\u201cYou have to see it in context because it\u2019s actually a very different thing we\u2019re doing with him. We needed someone of his caliber and his handsomeness, so we asked Milo to do it.\u201d<\/p>\n
