As pervasive as Euphoria<\/em>\u2019s beauty influence<\/a> was proceeding its first season, the A24 series\u2019 sophomore chapter is bound to bring something new to the table. Delivering the same experimental feel, makeup department head Doniella Davy continues to express the destructive teen angst and self-discovery of the show\u2019s beloved main characters through their sublime makeup.<\/p>\n

With both the makeup and the storyline described as a bit darker and a little more raw than season one, it could be argued that Euphoria<\/em>\u2019s brigade of wild teens<\/a> may have lost a youthful spark, or a na\u00efvet\u00e9 that they once were able to maintain, despite the web of very adult issues they experience.<\/p>\n

Creator and director of the HBO teen drama, Sam Levinson describes changing it up for the latest season in a behind-the-scenes special following season two\u2019s first episode. \u201cThe biggest fear was that we were going to go back and do the same thing. So, despite how popular the look of Euphoria<\/em> was, I wanted to create something that still had the heart and soul of Euphoria<\/em>, but it looks different, and it feels different. If season one was sort of a house party at 2:00 am., season two should feel like 5:00 am., way past the point in which everyone should have gone home.\u201d<\/p>\n

Makeup artist Doniella Davy has taken to her mesmerizing Instagram account to post a few inspiration snaps and explain her vision for this new chapter. \u201cA glimpse of makeup inspiration for this season of Euphoria. Season 2 is like Season 1\u2019s more introverted sister. There\u2019s a steady \u2018quiet\u2019 to her, until she\u2019s suddenly loud. She has her full glam moments but then switches to super minimalism. She loves her dewy skin, and going foundation free. She experiments with all different takes on winged liner from classic to modern to\u2026 something more free-form. She loves bright color, but only when she\u2019s really feeling bold. She\u2019s elusive with her sparkle and prefers a softer version of twinkling Euphoria glam. She also loves fake blood & gore.\u201d<\/p>\n
