Season five of\u00a0The Crown<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>is slated to release to Netflix in 2022. Starring Australian export Elizabeth Debicki as Princess Diana<\/a>, it will follow the final years of her life. As the series continues to document more modern events, the question remains on whether a spin-off could focus on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. It would certainly make for great television.<\/p>\n

In a new interview with Tatler<\/a>,\u00a0<\/em>actress Gugu Mbatha-Raw responded to fans who want to see her play Meghan Markle if a series like that would exist.<\/p>\n

“Oh my God, that’s hilarious,” she said. The\u00a0Morning Wars\u00a0<\/em>alum added that she would be “very flattered” if she was ever offered such a prestigious role but naturally, would have to “consider it”.<\/p>\n

“It sort of feels like a fairytale from an American viewpoint,” the English actress said of the Royal family. “I’m sure it’s not an easy life. And I’m sure we don’t know the half of it. But I respect it. I wish them luck. It’s a tricky transition to make,” she said of Markle and Prince Harry.<\/p>\n

The Crown\u00a0<\/em>creator Peter Morgan told T<\/a><\/em>he Hollywood Reporter<\/em><\/a> in 2020 that the series will finish before the Prince Harry era. According to the screenwriter it comes down to a creative decision and that the season would merely have a journalistic approach if it were to be made.<\/p>\n
