It’s time to take out the tissues and say goodbye to HBO Max’s beloved series Insecure<\/em><\/a>, as the season finale will air on Sunday, December 26.<\/p>\n

The popular show, which premiered in 2016, focuses on Issa Dee (played by Issa Rae<\/strong>) and her life as she tries to navigate the dating scene, her friendship with bestie Molly (Yvonne Orji<\/strong>) and her career.<\/p>\n

While some fans might be on team Lawrence (played by Jay Ellis<\/strong>) \u2014 Issa and Lawrence have been on and off for the past five seasons \u2014 others are holding out hope that Nathan (Kendrick Sampson<\/strong>) is the one for her.<\/p>\n

Rae even admitted that she changed the final episode to what she wanted<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt just didn\u2019t feel right,\u201d the HBO star noted. \u201cI think it was a good finale on its own. However, I just didn\u2019t feel like it aligned with the story that we have been telling for five seasons, much less even this season<\/a>. It felt like the ideal version. I just wanted to make an ending that felt more realistic and true to the characters.\u201d<\/p>\n

Though it may be tough to say goodbye, Rae is excited for fans to see the outcome. \u201cI had been talking a lot of s**t all season, like people asking me, \u2018Is it going to be bittersweet?\u2019 And I was like, \u2018More sweet than bitter!\u2019\u201d she said. \u201cAnd then literally filming myself crying on the way to set like, \u2018What is wrong with me?\u2019 It caught me. But I\u2019m just happy. I\u2019m so grateful I got to work with these amazing people, and I\u2019m in celebration mode.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added, \u201cWe always talked about this journey, from being insecure to being comfortable<\/a> in your insecurities [and] securely insecure.”<\/p>\n

The cherry on top of it all is that instead of the typical 30-minute episode, it will be 41 minutes \u2014 something that doesn’t always happen with the network.<\/p>\n

“We can’t, we literally can’t,” she said when asked if she can make the show longer. “Sometimes we would submit episodes for HBO’s approval that are like 33 minutes, and they’ll be like, ‘Get it down to 28 [minutes] and 30 seconds.’ That’s it, so it’s out of our hands.”<\/p>\n
